It is a fantasy beat ’em up with roguelite runs, branching routes and solo or co-op play. It first arrived on PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PS5; an Xbox Series X|S version followed on March 25, 2026, and a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition arrived on September 17, 2026.
What kind of game is Absolum?
Absolum is a side-scrolling fantasy brawler built around quick combos, spellcasting and repeatable runs. Dotemu calls it a “modern evolution of beat ‘em ups” that combines classic brawling with storytelling and replayability. Rather than simply replaying a fixed sequence, players take branching routes and face unpredictable encounters, adapting their strategy as each run unfolds. Dotemu’s game page describes the setting and combat.
The story takes place in Talamh, where a magical cataclysm has made people wary of magic. Sun King Azra exploits that fear, enslaves wizards through the Crimson Order and conquers the realms. The enchantress Uchawi and a band of rebels fight back.

Store availability and editions can vary by region and change over time. Check your local platform store for the current listing rather than assuming that a date or price applies everywhere.

How do solo play and co-op work?
You can play alone or team up with a friend. PlayStation describes both local and online co-op; Nintendo’s Switch 2 listing specifies one to two players for single-system and online play. Xbox lists cross-platform co-op, but that does not establish cross-play support for every other platform combination. Check the relevant store listing if playing with a friend on a different system matters to you.
PlayStation also lists adjustable difficulty and individual assists. In offline play, it says you can pause during gameplay or cinematics—useful details if you want to tailor the challenge or take breaks during a run. These features are described on the PlayStation listing.

What is different about the Switch 2 Edition?
Nintendo lists the Switch 2 Edition at 60 fps with improved resolution, and supports local GameShare. That makes it distinct from the original Nintendo Switch release. If you are choosing between them, confirm that the store page and product you are buying specifically identify the Switch 2 Edition; do not assume a listing for the original Switch version includes the newer edition or its enhancements.
What do the physical editions include?
Arc System Works lists physical editions for PS5, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, with digital artbook and digital soundtrack access code included. Its official page provides the edition overview.

Tesura Games lists standard physical versions and a special edition for Switch and PS5. The listed special-edition contents are:
- Physical game
- Digital soundtrack
- Four metal pins
- Character cards
- Mini artbook
- Poster
- Collector’s box
Tesura also describes its Switch 2 standard version as the Switch game plus a Switch 2 Edition upgrade pack. Edition names and contents can depend on the regional SKU, so compare the exact product description before ordering. Tesura’s edition page lists its versions.

Which version should you choose?
- Choose by the system you own: the original release is available on PC, Switch, PS4 and PS5, with Xbox Series X|S added later. The Switch 2 Edition is a separate listing with specified performance and resolution enhancements.
- Decide whether you want a physical copy: official pages document physical editions on PS5 and Switch-family systems, including the listed special edition for PS5 and Switch.
- Check the co-op pairing: local and online play are listed, and Xbox specifically lists cross-platform co-op. Do not assume other cross-platform combinations without confirmation.
- Compare the precise package: special-edition extras and Switch 2 upgrade-pack details differ by product. Verify platform, region and included items at the seller before paying.
