Blizzard has denied that its World of Warcraft: Forever promotional videos use generative AI. In posts dated October 14, 2026, a Blizzard digital marketing manager described the accusation as “a big hell nah,” while the World of Warcraft social-media manager said the team does not use AI on “ANY social content.” Those statements describe Blizzard’s position; the available report does not include an independent technical audit of the videos.
What the accusation was about
Online commenters questioned whether Blizzard’s World of Warcraft: Forever social-media advertisements were made with generative-AI tools. The dispute concerns promotional video production—not the game’s code, character systems, or every development process at Blizzard.

GamesRadar reported the controversy on October 15, 2026, as Blizzard prepared for the game’s public release, which the report described as approaching the following month. The comments focused on whether AI had contributed to the scripts, visuals, editing, or voices used in the advertisements.
What Blizzard employees said
The digital marketing manager’s denial
Blizzard’s digital marketing manager responded in an X post dated October 14. The manager wrote: “Not seeing much discourse here on X, but there have been comments on whether or not we use AI in these videos. That’s a big hell nah. We have real team members writing scripts, getting and editing footage, and I’ve been in recording booths with our VO actors every week.”
#1 Best Overall
That statement presents a human-led workflow: employees write the copy, obtain footage, edit the material, and record voice performances with voice actors. It is a categorical denial that generative AI is being used in the videos, rather than a narrower claim about one particular scene or asset.
The social-media manager’s broader statement
The World of Warcraft social-media manager added: “To add, we don’t use AI on ANY social content we make. Big hell nah indeed.” This expands the denial beyond the World of Warcraft: Forever videos to the team’s social content generally.

What is established—and what is not
The public record establishes that two Blizzard employees denied AI use and described direct knowledge of a conventional production process. It does not independently establish that every frame, audio element, script line, or editing decision in every advertisement was created without AI assistance.

GamesRadar’s report does not describe a forensic examination, metadata review, source-file inspection, or third-party audit of the video assets. AI-detection tools can also produce false positives and are not, by themselves, conclusive proof of how a commercial video was made. The strongest accurate wording is therefore that Blizzard says the videos are produced by human staff and voice actors, not that an outside investigation has proven the claim.

How to read the “hell nah” response
The wording is unusually emphatic, but it remains an attributed company statement. The marketing manager claims direct involvement in recording sessions and identifies the people responsible for scripting, footage, and editing. The social-media manager separately makes a blanket statement about social content. Those details give the denial more context than a one-word rejection, while still stopping short of independent verification.

- Which part of a particular video is disputed: script, imagery, compositing, editing, music, or voice?
- Does the evidence come from someone with direct production access, or from visual speculation?
- Is there an original project file, asset history, or other technical record?
- Has an independent specialist examined the files rather than relying on an automated detector?

What this means for players
For now, the practical answer to “Did Blizzard use AI in the WoW: Forever videos?” is: Blizzard says no. The company’s employees describe a workflow involving staff writers, editors, footage teams, and voice actors. Because no independent technical review is reported, readers should treat that as Blizzard’s stated position rather than a conclusively audited finding.
