In ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE, campaign aircraft are unlocked with MRP earned in missions. MRP is the campaign currency used to unlock additional aircraft. The official walkthrough identifies missions as its source. The sources reviewed do not provide a complete aircraft-by-aircraft cost list or specify a universal earning rate.

How do aircraft upgrades and loadouts work?
You can combine parts to upgrade an aircraft, then choose a special weapon for the sortie. Bandai Namco’s guidance is to build around the mission objective and your preferred playstyle—not to follow one universally best configuration. Its gameplay walkthrough announcement also points to mission briefings as strategic guidance for adapting aircraft and tactics.
Use the aircraft’s listed role as a starting point, then weigh the objective, available special weapons and the parts you can equip. The official aircraft roster labels the MiG-21BIS Fishbed a Fighter, the Rafale M a Multirole aircraft and the A-6E Intruder an Attacker. Those labels describe broad roles; they do not establish a best aircraft, exact performance ranking or specific mission access.

Do campaign aircraft unlocks carry over to multiplayer?
No. ACE COMBAT ONLINE is a multiplayer-only mode with progression and save data separate from Campaign Mode. Its aircraft are acquired through rewards earned in that mode, not through campaign MRP. The official multiplayer FAQ says the online roster includes the same aircraft as Campaign Mode, but acquisition remains mode-specific. It describes Fighters, Attackers, Multirole Aircraft and Electronic Warfare Aircraft as available roles.
Online progression also includes ACE PASS rewards earned through pass XP. Bandai Namco says pass updates are scheduled every two months; check the current in-game or official season terms for what is available, because schedules and rewards can change.

Can the ACE PASS grant aircraft?
Yes, online pass content can include aircraft. At launch, Bandai Namco announced that Premium ACE PASS PLUS included 30 immediate pass levels and a season-long reward track featuring the playable ADFX-02 MORGAN –PIXY, alongside other rewards. That is a launch announcement, not a promise about the current season; check its listed rewards before buying or progressing for a particular item. See the launch announcement.
How do I unlock the F-14A?
Bandai Namco Europe listed the playable F-14A as a preorder bonus for orders placed before October 2, 2026. That cutoff has passed as of October 4, 2026, so do not assume a new purchase includes it. Bonus terms can vary by region; consult the official edition and preorder guide for the applicable market.

What should I compare when choosing an aircraft?
- Mode: Decide whether you are selecting for Campaign or ACE COMBAT ONLINE; the two progressions are separate.
- Mission objective: Read the briefing and choose a role and special weapon that fit what the sortie asks you to do.
- Role: Use the official roster’s Fighter, Attacker, Multirole or Electronic Warfare labels as broad orientation, not as a performance ranking.
- Customization: Consider the special weapons and upgrade-part combinations available for that aircraft.
The official guidance does not give comparative performance figures or endorse one best aircraft or build, so a precise universal ranking would be speculative.
Are aircraft bonuses tied to a particular edition?
Edition content is distinct from normal campaign unlocks and online rewards. Bandai Namco Europe says the Standard Edition is offered digitally or on disc for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in participating countries and retailers; availability depends on region and retailer. The same guide describes the Joker Flight Pack as a Bandai Namco Official Store exclusive and, on the page reviewed, available only for Digital PC Steam. It includes the game, cosmetics, a 208-page ACES at WAR: A History 2029 artbook and a 15-track, two-disc soundtrack vinyl set.
