The original models—PHN16-73 and PHN18-72—were offered with configurations up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU. Acer later announced a separate 2026 refresh with different model numbers and up to RTX 5080 Laptop graphics, so the generation matters when comparing specifications.
What Acer announced in 2025
The February 2025 launch covered two Windows 11 gaming laptop lines: the 16-inch Predator Helios Neo 16 AI (PHN16-73) and the 18-inch Predator Helios Neo 18 AI (PHN18-72). Acer positioned the smaller system for gamers and professionals on the go and the larger one as a desktop-replacement option. Those are product-positioning descriptions, not independent performance measurements. Acer’s launch announcement listed configurations up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU, 64 GB of memory, and 2 TB of storage. These are maximum announced configuration options, not specifications shared by every unit.
How the original Neo 16 and Neo 18 differ
| Original 2025 model | Announced display | Other announced maximums |
|---|---|---|
| Predator Helios Neo 16 AI, PHN16-73 | Optional OLED WQXGA (2560 × 1600) panel, up to 240 Hz; Acer also listed non-OLED options. | Up to Core Ultra 9 275HX, RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU, 64 GB memory, and 2 TB storage. |
| Predator Helios Neo 18 AI, PHN18-72 | Mini LED WQXGA (2560 × 1600) panel, up to 250 Hz. | Up to Core Ultra 9 275HX, RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU, 64 GB memory, and 2 TB storage. |
Acer also described G-SYNC, Advanced Optimus, and a MUX Switch across the lines. Its launch materials cited fifth-generation AeroBlade cooling, liquid-metal thermal grease, vector heat pipes, and four-zone RGB keyboards. These are manufacturer specifications and feature claims; they do not establish comparative frame rates, noise levels, or sustained thermal performance.
Launch prices and rollout were regional
Acer’s February 2025 announcement gave the following starting prices and expected availability windows. These are launch-era figures, not current prices.

How to distinguish the 2026 refresh
On March 17, 2026, Acer announced a refresh using new model families: PHN16-I71 for the Neo 16 AI and PHN18-I71 for the Neo 18 AI. Acer described these refreshed lines with Intel Core Ultra 200HX Plus processors and configurations up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 Laptop GPU. The refreshed Neo 16 AI was described with an OLED HDR WQXGA panel; the refreshed Neo 18 AI with an 18-inch WQXGA 240 Hz display and Ambient Contrast Ratio film. These specifications should not be attributed to the 2025 PHN16-73 or PHN18-72. Acer’s refresh announcement listed expected availability for both refreshed models from June 2026 in EMEA and Australia and from July 2026 in North America. Those were announced schedules, not confirmation of present stock. Acer’s U.S. Neo 16 AI overview describes up to a Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus and RTX 5080 Laptop graphics, further underlining why the exact model family should be checked.

Check the exact SKU before comparing or buying
Line-wide maximums do not tell you what a particular laptop includes. Compare the model number and regional SKU, then verify the processor, GPU, display panel, memory, storage, ports, battery, warranty, price, and stock on the relevant listing.
- Acer’s U.S. specification page for refreshed Neo 16 SKU PHN16-I71-93EM (part NH.U46AA.001) lists Windows 11 Home, 32 GB DDR5, a 1 TB PCIe NVMe 4.0 SSD, Wi-Fi 6E, Ethernet, USB-C, HDMI, and a 92 Wh battery. Acer rates battery life for this specific SKU at up to 5.5 hours under MobileMark 2030 for WQXGA-panel models and up to 10 hours of video playback. These are different test conditions, not a single general-use runtime. See Acer’s SKU specifications.
- Acer’s U.S. store page for original Neo 18 SKU PHN18-72-902R (part NH.U0HAA.003) lists a Core Ultra 9 275HX, RTX 5070 Ti with 12 GB dedicated memory, an 18-inch WQXGA IPS 250 Hz screen, 64 GB DDR5, and a 2 TB SSD. The page displayed USD 2,849.99 and “Out of stock” when accessed in 2026; that observation applies to this listing at that time, not the wider market. See the Acer U.S. store listing.
Acer’s official materials establish what it announced and lists for specific SKUs; they do not provide independent comparisons with rival laptops. A buying decision therefore needs the configuration actually available in your region, rather than a headline maximum for the product family.
