Its 24.5-inch IPS screen, G-SYNC and low-latency performance suit esports; its modest resolution, weak HDR and aging value proposition do not suit every game or buyer. In Acer’s US store snapshot for August 16, 2026, it was listed at $799.99 and out of stock, making a discounted or carefully checked used unit more plausible than buying new at that price.

What the X25 is like to use
A compact, adjustable esports screen
The 24.5-inch size is a deliberate competitive choice: the whole image stays comfortably in view without requiring the player to scan a large panel. The stand offers height, tilt, swivel and pivot adjustment, and the display can also be mounted on a compatible 100 × 100mm VESA arm. USB ports and a headphone output add practical desk connectivity; the built-in 2W speakers are suitable for basic audio, not a replacement for gaming headphones.
The format has a clear trade-off. At 1920 × 1080 on 24.5 inches, the X25 is adequate for games but less crisp for text, desktop work and detailed images than a 1440p display. Its resolution also reduces the rendering load, making very high frame rates more attainable than they would be at 1440p or 4K.

Does 360Hz make a difference?
Each refresh interval gets shorter as the refresh rate rises: 144Hz is about 6.94ms per cycle, 240Hz about 4.17ms, and 360Hz about 2.78ms. That does not mean the monitor subtracts those full amounts from every action, but faster updates can make motion look smoother and reduce display-side waiting when new frames arrive frequently.
The jump from 240Hz to 360Hz is smaller than moving from 60Hz to 144Hz. It is most relevant during rapid camera movement, tracking and quick target changes in games such as Counter-Strike, Valorant, Overwatch or Rainbow Six Siege. It is not a guaranteed improvement to aim, and it cannot fix poor frame pacing, a CPU bottleneck, network latency or inconsistent input.
The game must actually render frames near the display’s maximum to make full use of it. Tom’s Hardware tested the X25 with a GeForce RTX 3090 and reached 360Hz in its 1080p gaming tests; that is a result for that test system and games, not a universal hardware requirement or promise. Check frame rates in the games you play, including demanding maps and fights, rather than assuming a powerful GPU will sustain 360fps. A CPU can be the limiting component, and a stable cap just below the maximum may feel more consistent than an uncapped, erratic frame rate.

Motion performance, overdrive and latency
Independent reviews support the X25’s competitive credentials. RTINGS reports very fast response at both 360Hz and 60Hz, low input lag and effective G-SYNC performance. Tom’s Hardware found the Normal overdrive setting preferable: Extreme produced visible ghosting, while disabling overdrive led to black trails. The fastest-sounding setting is not necessarily the cleanest-looking one.
Quick wins for a faster PC:

Those figures are manufacturer specifications, not a promise that every pixel transition takes that long. LCD response varies with the transition and overdrive mode; excessive overdrive can create bright or dark trails called overshoot. Start with Normal and judge motion in your own games. Tom’s Hardware’s response and latency testing and RTINGS’ review provide independent assessments rather than relying on the headline response-time claims.
G-SYNC and Reflex Latency Analyzer
G-SYNC coordinates the display with GPU frame delivery within its supported operating range, helping reduce tearing and stutter when frame rates fluctuate. The X25 uses an NVIDIA G-SYNC implementation, rather than relying only on generic G-SYNC compatibility.

The Reflex Latency Analyzer measures the interval between a mouse input and a visible event on screen under a specific setup. It needs a compatible mouse plugged into the monitor’s designated Reflex USB port; the measurement box must be placed over the relevant flash or muzzle-flash area. It can help compare settings, frame caps or peripherals, but it is not simply a reading of the monitor’s internal input lag, nor does the feature alone remove latency throughout the PC.
Image quality: strong for esports, ordinary elsewhere
The IPS panel provides wide viewing angles, and Tom’s Hardware reported good out-of-box color accuracy and ample SDR brightness for a normally lit room. The modest resolution is also useful when the priority is maximizing frame rate. These strengths make the X25 a competent everyday display, but not an especially sharp or cinematic one.

Its native contrast is listed at 1,000:1, typical of IPS, so dark scenes and black levels are less convincing in a dim room. Its sRGB-oriented color gamut is also less expansive than that of many newer wide-gamut gaming monitors. RTINGS likewise identifies limited contrast and 1080p resolution as shortcomings. Tom’s Hardware found that Variable Backlight could improve dynamic contrast, but it did not match a full-array local-dimming display.

HDR is a secondary feature, not a reason to buy
DisplayHDR 400 is a baseline certification, not a guarantee of dramatic highlights, deep blacks or convincing HDR contrast. The X25’s panel and backlight design limit its HDR impact; its IPS contrast further constrains dark scenes. Treat HDR as an available format rather than a central strength. If HDR-heavy single-player games are your priority, a display with stronger contrast and more capable local dimming—or OLED—is a better direction.
ULMB trades variable refresh for strobing
The X25 also supports ULMB, a backlight-strobing mode intended to reduce perceived motion blur. It is not a free addition to G-SYNC: Tom’s Hardware reports that using ULMB requires disabling G-SYNC and reducing refresh to 240Hz or lower. Strobing can also lower brightness and create artifacts around moving objects. In that review’s testing, Adaptive-Sync was preferable overall. Try ULMB only if you specifically prefer its motion presentation and accept those compromises.

- Connect through DisplayPort. Acer specifies 360Hz over DisplayPort; regional documentation lists HDMI at 240Hz. Use HDMI only if that lower maximum is acceptable.
- Select the refresh rate in Windows. Open Settings → System → Display → Advanced display, select the X25 and choose 360Hz if it appears.
- Check NVIDIA Control Panel. Select the monitor’s native 1920 × 1080 resolution and 360Hz refresh rate. Enable G-SYNC for full-screen or windowed applications according to your preference.
- Begin with Normal overdrive. Check for trails in motion; switch from Extreme if you see halos or ghosting.
- Use a stable frame-rate cap if needed. If uncapped play produces inconsistent frame pacing, test a cap just below the display’s maximum and compare how the game feels.
- Enable NVIDIA Reflex in supported games if desired. The monitor’s analyzer is a measurement tool; Reflex in a supported game is a separate latency-reduction feature.
- Set up the analyzer only if you will use it. Connect a compatible mouse to the designated Reflex USB port and position the on-screen measurement box over the visible event you want to measure.
- Choose a suitable color mode. Use sRGB or User mode for ordinary desktop and gaming use; calibrate if color accuracy matters for your work.
If 360Hz does not appear
- Verify that the PC is connected through DisplayPort and that the GPU and cable support the required connection.
- Check Windows Advanced display and NVIDIA Control Panel for the selected resolution and refresh rate.
- Confirm that the system detects the monitor correctly; check its driver or display identification if it does not.
- Check whether a game’s display mode or settings impose a separate refresh-rate limit.
If the refresh-rate option remains unavailable, consult the documentation for the exact regional model and GPU rather than assuming every X25 configuration has identical input behavior.

Should you buy the Acer Predator X25?
It makes sense for
- Competitive players who mostly play fast esports titles at 1080p.
- PC owners who can sustain roughly 300–360fps in their actual games and value motion clarity over resolution.
- Players who specifically want a compact 24.5-inch screen, NVIDIA G-SYNC hardware or Reflex Latency Analyzer.
Look elsewhere if
- Your games usually run below 200fps, or your system cannot keep frame delivery consistent.
- You care more about 1440p sharpness, HDR, contrast or single-player image quality than the last increment in refresh rate.
- You need a currently available monitor at a sensible price. Acer’s out-of-stock $799.99 listing is not compelling value when newer high-refresh 1440p choices exist.
Buying used
A used X25 can be a reasonable specialist purchase if its price reflects its age and you can test it before committing. Check for dead or stuck pixels, backlight bleed, IPS glow and uniformity; verify DisplayPort at 360Hz, G-SYNC, the USB hub and Reflex port; inspect the stand or VESA hardware; and confirm the exact regional model, warranty status and proof of purchase. A unit that cannot be tested at its advertised refresh rate is a risk, not a bargain.
For a direct 360Hz 1080p comparison, check whether the ASUS PG259QN is actually available at a competitive price. For a more versatile single display, the Acer Predator XB273U F5BMIIPRZX listing points to the newer 1440p 360Hz class, while OLED high-refresh options target buyers who also want stronger contrast. Choose by the games you play, the frame rates your PC sustains and the image quality you value—not refresh-rate numbers alone.
