If Windows says acmpolygoncom.dll is missing, was not found, or could not be loaded, repair or reinstall the Autodesk product that requested it. Fix 1: Identify the Autodesk product that owns the error

Fix 2: Repair the Autodesk installation

AutoCAD 2021 and earlier

Fix 3: Reinstall the exact Autodesk product

A reinstall is the definitive repair when the installed copy is incomplete, the installer cache is damaged, or the product has been repeatedly patched.

1. Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
2. Locate the product named in the error.
3. Select the three-dot menu.
4. Choose Uninstall.

When the installer path is C:AutodeskWI

C:Autodesk may contain installer files, deployment files, or temporary installation content. It is not necessarily the location from which the running application loads its installed DLLs.

Deleting C:Autodesk does not repair an installed Autodesk product. If the error names an installer path under that directory, download or run the official installer again instead of treating the folder as a system DLL repository.

Fix 4: Check Microsoft Defender quarantine

Antivirus software can remove or quarantine a program file. Do not assume that every quarantine event is a false positive, but do check it before reinstalling.

1. Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
2. Select Virus & threat protection.
3. Choose Protection history.
4. Look for an event involving acmpolygoncom.dll or the affected Autodesk product.
5. Expand the event and review its path and action.

A standalone DLL download is a poor fix for this error because it can introduce several problems:

• The file may contain malware or unwanted modifications.
• It may be from the wrong Autodesk product.

• It may require companion files from a different release.
• It may create an entry-point or initialization error instead of fixing the original problem.
• It does not repair the installer, registry state, licensing files, or related Autodesk components.

Never copy acmpolygoncom.dll into:

• C:WindowsSystem32
• C:WindowsSysWOW64
• A random application folder
• Another Autodesk product’s installation directory

Use Autodesk Account, Autodesk Access, or the original Autodesk installer instead. Autodesk distributes this component as part of its product installation rather than as a universal standalone Windows download.

Fix 6: Do not use regsvr32 as a generic repair

regsvr32 is not a general-purpose DLL repair command. Microsoft documents it for DLLs that expose registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer.

A normal Autodesk runtime or application module may not provide that entry point. Running a command such as:

regsvr32 acmpolygoncom.dll

can produce an error such as “The module was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found.” That result does not mean Windows needs another copy of the file.

Use Autodesk Repair or reinstall instead. Only register a DLL when Autodesk’s own installation instructions specifically require it for that component.

Fix 7: Repair Windows components only when Windows corruption is also suspected

acmpolygoncom.dll is an Autodesk file, so SFC is not the normal direct repair. Use DISM and SFC when you are also seeing broader Windows problems, damaged system components, update failures, or unrelated protected-file errors.

Run DISM

1. Open Start.
2. Type Command Prompt.

Microsoft documents DISM image repair and System File Checker. These commands can repair protected Windows files and the component store, but they should not be expected to download or replace an Autodesk DLL.

Repeating SFC will not solve an incomplete Autodesk installation if SFC reports that Windows is healthy.

3. Select a restore point created before the error began.
4. Select Scan for affected programs if available.
5. Review the changes.
6. Select Next, then Finish.
7. Allow Windows to restart.

Fix 9: Update drivers only for a separate driver-related symptom

A graphics-driver problem can prevent an Autodesk application from starting, but there is no evidence that a graphics driver is the normal cause of a missing acmpolygoncom.dll. Do not reinstall drivers solely because this filename appears.

Investigate drivers when:

• The error explicitly names a driver file.
• The application opens but crashes during graphics initialization.
• Device Manager reports a device error.
• The problem began immediately after a graphics-driver update.

To check Device Manager:

• Back up custom templates, profiles, scripts, and project settings.
• Record the Autodesk products and versions currently installed.
• Confirm that you can access the required Autodesk installer and account.
• Understand that a clean uninstall can remove all Autodesk products, residual files, registry entries, and licensing information.

Follow Autodesk’s clean-uninstall procedure for your product family rather than deleting folders at random. Restart Windows after the cleanup, then reinstall the exact product and version from Autodesk’s official source.

This is not a casual first step. If only one product is damaged, ordinary repair or a targeted uninstall is safer.

When the error changes after repair

A changed error is useful evidence.

“Entry point not found”

The DLL is present, but the application is loading an incompatible version or companion file. Remove manually copied files and reinstall the product that generated the error.

“The specified module could not be found”

Windows may be reporting a missing dependency rather than the named DLL itself. Read the complete message carefully. If a later error identifies another DLL, troubleshoot that file separately.

The application still will not start

Confirm that you repaired the product named by the executable, not another Autodesk installation. Check the full path, product version, Windows version, and whether Defender quarantined a replacement file.
