Activision’s case against cheat vendor EngineOwning resulted in a reported default judgment of more than $14.4 million in May 2024. That was the reported court award—not the amount Activision initially requested, and not evidence that Activision collected the money. The award also differs from a separate 2023 consent judgment against one individual defendant.
What did Activision win, and when?
In May 2024, GamesBeat reported that a federal court entered a default judgment awarding Activision $14.4 million against EngineOwning UG, Garnatz Enterprise Ltd., and 11 individuals. The same report said the court ordered EngineOwning’s website domain transferred to Activision. These outcomes are reported by GamesBeat; the final default-judgment order was not available in the court documents cited here, so the exact order wording and how the award was allocated among defendants are not established.

This was a default judgment, not a jury verdict. An award also does not show whether Activision has collected any money. The available information does not establish the present status of collection or enforcement.
How did the award differ from Activision’s request?
Activision’s April 12, 2024 motion for default judgment asked for $14,465,600 in statutory damages and $292,912 in costs and fees. The motion said the damages figure was based on minimum statutory damages under section 1201 of the Copyright Act for alleged violations and was a conservative approximation of profits. Those were Activision’s arguments supporting its request, not findings independently established by the motion.

The motion’s requested amounts and the later reported award are distinct figures. The reported $14.4 million award should not be presented as Activision’s requested total, nor should the request be described as the court’s final calculation. Activision’s April 2024 motion is a court filing hosted by TorrentFreak.
What cheats was EngineOwning accused of selling?
Activision sued EngineOwning UG and people associated with the business, alleging that they distributed software that enabled cheating in Call of Duty and other Activision Blizzard games. A separate 2023 consent judgment against defendant Ignacio Gayduchenko identifies EngineOwning products associated with several Call of Duty titles. It permanently bars that defendant from developing, distributing, advertising, supporting, or otherwise making the specified software available without authorization, and also covers related cheating software for Activision Blizzard games.
That consent judgment concerns Gayduchenko; it is not the later default judgment reported against EngineOwning UG, Garnatz Enterprise Ltd., and 11 individuals. The consent judgment and permanent injunction names the software and describes the restrictions imposed on that defendant.
