“The program can’t start because admparse.dll is missing from your computer,” “Error loading admparse.dll,” and “The specified module could not be found” are common forms of this problem. admparse.dll is a genuine Microsoft Internet Explorer component, not a Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET runtime file.
The file is identified as IEAK Global Policy Template Parser. IEAK means Internet Explorer Administration Kit, Microsoft’s enterprise tool for creating and distributing customized Internet Explorer packages. Microsoft security-update records list Admparse.dll among Internet Explorer files, confirming its association with the Microsoft browser component.
On Windows 10 or Windows 11, the message usually points to one of four situations:
- A protected Windows or Internet Explorer file was damaged or removed.
- An old IEAK or enterprise deployment package is incomplete.
- Antivirus software quarantined the file.
- A legacy application still requests an Internet Explorer component that it no longer properly installs.
The safest repair is not to download a loose DLL. Identify the program making the request, repair Windows with DISM and SFC, and then repair the specific legacy application or Microsoft component if necessary.

What admparse.dll does
admparse.dll belongs to the Windows Internet Explorer and Internet Explorer Administration Kit family. Its description, IEAK Global Policy Template Parser, indicates that it handles policy-template data used by Internet Explorer administration and deployment tools.
It is not a general Windows runtime shared by modern games and applications. There is also no reliable evidence that a current game or named consumer program specifically requires it. If a game or unrelated program displays the error, that program may contain an old dependency, an incomplete installer, or a stale startup entry.
Microsoft documentation for Internet Explorer security updates lists Admparse.dll among Internet Explorer files. Microsoft’s IEAK documentation describes the kit as a way to customize and distribute Internet Explorer packages.
Internet Explorer itself is retired. Microsoft says Internet Explorer support ended on June 15, 2022, and recommends Microsoft Edge with IE mode when an organization still needs legacy site compatibility. That does not mean every admparse.dll error should be solved by installing Internet Explorer on a current PC. The correct repair depends on which process is requesting the file.
What the different errors mean
“admparse.dll is missing”
Windows or an application tried to load the file and could not find it in the expected component location or search path. The file may have been deleted, quarantined, or removed with an old program.
“admparse.dll was not found”
This has the same basic meaning as “is missing.” It does not identify why the file disappeared or which program owns the failed request.
“Error loading admparse.dll”
The file may be present but unusable. Possible causes include corruption, an incompatible architecture, a missing dependency, or a damaged Internet Explorer installation.
“The specified module could not be found”
This wording can be misleading. It may mean admparse.dll itself is missing, but it can also mean that a dependency required by the DLL is missing. The only reliable way to distinguish those cases is to identify the parent process and examine application, event, or repair logs.
“admparse.dll is not designed to run on Windows”
This is a generic Windows loader failure. It can indicate corruption or an incompatible binary, but it is not specific proof that this particular file came from malware or belongs to the wrong Windows version.
First, identify what is calling the file
Before replacing anything, determine whether the error appears during startup, when launching a specific program, or while an administrator runs an old deployment package.
Write down:
- The exact wording of the message.
- The program name shown in the title bar.
- Whether it appears immediately after signing in.
- Whether it began after a Windows update, Internet Explorer change, cleanup operation, antivirus alert, or software uninstall.
- Whether the error appears for every user account or only one.
If the message names an application, repair that application after running Windows component repair. If it appears in a script, scheduled task, login process, or enterprise deployment tool, the caller may be an old IEAK package rather than Internet Explorer itself.
Check Event Viewer
- Press Windows key + X.
- Select Event Viewer.
- Expand Windows Logs.
- Select Application.
- Choose Filter Current Log in the right pane.
- Filter for Error and Warning events around the time the message appeared.
- Look for the application name, faulting module, or process associated with the error.
Also check Applications and Services Logs if the error comes from a managed deployment tool. Reliability Monitor can provide an easier timeline:

- Search for Reliability Monitor.
- Select View reliability history.
- Select the day the error began.
- Open the application failure or Windows failure entry.
Do not assume that admparse.dll is the true cause simply because it is the filename in the dialog. The parent process is the important clue.
Fix 1: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC
This is the safest first repair when the file was part of a damaged or incomplete Windows/Internet Explorer installation.
Install updates and restart
- Open Settings.
- Select Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates.
- Install pending updates.
- Restart Windows, even if the update process does not require it.
- Test the program again.
If the error remains, use the component-repair commands below.
Run DISM first
- Open Start.
- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Approve the User Account Control prompt.
- Enter:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
- Press Enter.
- Wait for the operation to complete.
- Leave the administrator Command Prompt open.
DISM repairs the Windows component store and can obtain replacement repair files through Windows Update. The process can pause at a percentage for a while. Do not close the window merely because progress appears unchanged.

Replace C:RepairSourceWindows with a legitimate repair source that matches the installed Windows edition and architecture. An incorrect source can create another servicing problem.
Run System File Checker
After DISM completes, run:
sfc /scannow
SFC checks protected Windows files and replaces damaged copies when a valid replacement is available. Wait until verification reaches 100 percent.
The result normally falls into one of these categories:

- Found corrupt files and successfully repaired them: Restart Windows and test the program again.
- Found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them: Review the CBS log, run DISM again if necessary, and consider System Restore or an in-place repair.
- Could not perform the requested operation: Restart into a clean boot or Safe Mode and repeat the repair, then investigate disk or filesystem problems.
If you want an automated way to reduce the manual work of hunting through repair results and repeating DISM/SFC without knowing what changed, Outbyte PC Repair can scan for reported Windows issues; its free scan shows findings, while repairs require the full version. It is optional, and Microsoft’s DISM and SFC tools remain the primary repair path.
Restart after SFC, then launch the program that produced the error. If the message has disappeared, the damaged Windows component was probably the cause.
Fix 2: Repair the program that displays the error
If the error appears only when launching one application, do not assume that reinstalling Internet Explorer is the right answer. The application may be carrying an old dependency or may have been incompletely removed.
Use Windows app repair
For a modern Windows application:
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps.
- Select Installed apps or Apps & features.
- Find the program named in the error.
- Select the three-dot menu beside it.
- Choose Advanced options, if available.
- Select Repair.
- Launch the program again.
If Repair does not help, return to the same screen and select Reset only if you understand that the application may lose local settings or cached data.
For a traditional desktop program:
- Open Control Panel.
- Select Programs.
- Select Programs and Features.
- Select the affected application.
- Choose Change, Repair, or Uninstall.
- Select Repair when the installer offers it.
- Restart Windows and test again.
If no repair option exists, uninstall the application, restart, and install the same program from its official publisher source. Do not place a downloaded admparse.dll in the program folder as a substitute for repairing its installer.
If the application is an enterprise deployment package, ask the administrator for the matching IEAK package and language. IEAK 11 documentation covers supported systems including Windows 7 SP1, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Windows 8, and Windows Server 2012. IEAK is an administrative deployment tool, not a general DLL-repair package.
Fix 3: Repair the correct Internet Explorer component
Internet Explorer components were serviced as part of Windows and through cumulative updates. A damaged or interrupted update on an older system can leave files incomplete.
Do not install an old Internet Explorer package onto an unsupported Windows version merely because its name appears in a search result. Microsoft’s available standalone IE11 downloads for Windows 7 target Windows 7 SP1 and are architecture-specific:
Before using either package:
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type
msinfo32. - Press Enter.
- Check the Windows edition and System Type.
- Confirm that the installer explicitly supports that system.
- Create a backup or restore point.
- Run the Microsoft installer as administrator.
- Restart when prompted.
- Run DISM and SFC again if the error persists.
These downloads are not universal replacements for admparse.dll, and they are not the normal solution on Windows 10 or Windows 11. On a current system, repair Windows or the legacy application that is making the request instead.
Check Windows Features carefully
Some older systems expose Internet Explorer through Windows Features:
- Open Start.
- Search for Turn Windows features on or off.
- Open the result.
- Look for Internet Explorer 11, if the option exists.
- Record its current state before changing anything.
- If the component is available and the problem began after it was disabled, enable it and restart.
- If it is already enabled, do not repeatedly toggle it. Continue with DISM, SFC, and application repair.
The option may not be present on a particular Windows installation, especially where Internet Explorer has been removed or retired. Do not treat its absence as proof that a loose DLL should be downloaded.
Fix 4: Check antivirus quarantine
Security software can quarantine a legitimate file after a detection, an update, or a false positive.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- Open Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review entries from the time the error started.
- Look for
admparse.dll, Internet Explorer, IEAK, or the application named in the error.
If another antivirus product is installed, open its quarantine or detection history instead.
Do not restore the file automatically. Restore it only when all of the following are true:
- The file came from the expected Microsoft component.
- The detection is demonstrably false.
- The file’s digital signature identifies Microsoft.
- You have checked that the program requesting it is legitimate.
If the file was quarantined and you cannot verify it, leave it quarantined and repair the owning Microsoft component with DISM, SFC, or the correct official installer.
Fix 5: Check 32-bit and 64-bit compatibility
A 64-bit Windows installation can run 32-bit applications. That means a 32-bit application may require a 32-bit Internet Explorer dependency even though the operating system is 64-bit.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Public file indexes list both 32-bit and 64-bit records for admparse.dll, including version information such as 9.0.8112.16421. Those records are reference data, not official Microsoft integrity sources, and their reported sizes and hashes should not be used to select a download.
Use the matching Microsoft component rather than choosing the file with the newest-looking number.
To check Windows architecture:
- Open Settings.
- Select System.
- Select About.
- Read System type.
To check an application’s architecture, consult its official documentation or installer. On 64-bit Windows, many 32-bit programs are installed under C:Program Files (x86), but the folder alone is not proof.
Never copy a 32-bit DLL into a 64-bit Windows system directory, or a 64-bit DLL into a 32-bit application directory. Serviced Internet Explorer files can also have dependencies and version relationships that manual copying does not preserve.

There is no verified evidence that admparse.dll is a self-registering COM server. Therefore, commands such as these are not a supported fix:
regsvr32 admparse.dll
regsvr32 C:WindowsSystem32admparse.dll
A registration error does not repair a missing file, and a successful registration message would not prove that the application’s dependency chain is correct. Repair the owning Windows, Internet Explorer, IEAK, or third-party application instead.

If several unrelated Windows files are missing, applications crash, or SFC cannot complete, the problem may be filesystem or storage corruption rather than one deleted DLL.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsBefore making repairs:
- Back up important files.
- Check available disk space.
- Review drive health using the manufacturer’s supported diagnostic utility.
- Open an administrator Command Prompt.
- Use Windows disk-checking guidance appropriate to the installed version.
- Restart if Windows schedules a repair.
Do not interrupt a scheduled disk check. If the drive reports errors or the system continues losing files, resolve the storage problem before repeatedly reinstalling applications.
Fix 8: Use System Restore or an in-place repair
System Restore is appropriate when:
- The error began recently.
- Restore points exist from before the failure.
- DISM and SFC did not resolve it.
- The problem followed a driver, cleanup, update, or software installation.
To check:
- Open Start.
- Search for Create a restore point.
- Open it.
- Select System Restore.
- Choose a restore point dated before the error began.
- Review the affected programs.
- Confirm only when the consequences are acceptable.
A restore point does not replace personal backups and may not exist.
An in-place Windows repair is a later step when Windows components remain damaged but the installation can still start normally. Use installation media that matches the installed Windows edition and architecture, run Setup from within Windows, and choose the option that preserves personal files and applications when available. Back up first. Do not use a clean installation unless you have confirmed that you can restore applications and data.
Updating drivers is usually not the answer
admparse.dll is an Internet Explorer/IEAK component, not a graphics, audio, chipset, or DirectX runtime DLL. Updating drivers should not be the first response.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Check Device Manager only if the error is clearly launched by a hardware utility, display-control panel, docking application, or another program tied to a device:
- Press Windows key + X.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand the relevant device category.
- Right-click the device.
- Select Properties.
- Open the Driver tab.
- Note the provider, date, and version.
- Use Update driver or obtain the driver from the device or PC manufacturer.
- Restart and test the calling application.
If you are manually checking many devices and cannot tell which driver changed, Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for driver issues; its free scan reports findings, while driver installation requires the full version. It is optional, and a driver update is not a substitute for repairing the Internet Explorer or IEAK component when that is the actual caller.
Why random DLL downloads are unsafe
Downloading admparse.dll from an unverified DLL site is a poor repair because:
- The file may contain malware or have been modified.
- The architecture may be wrong.
- The version may not match the rest of Internet Explorer.
- The file may have missing dependencies.
- Windows servicing may replace it later.
- The application may be requesting a different missing module.
- Copying it into an arbitrary application folder can hide the real installation problem.
The safe sources are Windows Update, DISM repair files, SFC, matching Microsoft installation media, Microsoft’s official Internet Explorer downloads for supported legacy systems, and the official IEAK distribution materials. Do not use a file index as an integrity authority.

Frequently asked questions
Is admparse.dll malware?
No. admparse.dll is identified as a Microsoft file named IEAK Global Policy Template Parser and is associated with Windows Internet Explorer and IEAK. A file with that name in an unexpected location, without a valid Microsoft signature, should still be investigated rather than trusted automatically.
Is admparse.dll part of Windows or Internet Explorer?
It is an Internet Explorer component that may be serviced as part of Windows. Its description specifically references IEAK, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer administration and deployment kit.
Where should admparse.dll be located?
Its exact default location can vary by Windows release, architecture, language, servicing state, and whether it came from an IEAK package. Do not use an online path listing as proof that a file belongs in a particular folder.
Should I copy it from another PC?
No. Another computer may have a different Windows build, architecture, language, servicing level, or damaged copy. Use DISM, SFC, matching Microsoft media, or the installer for the affected application.
Should I reinstall Internet Explorer?
Only on a supported legacy Windows system where the error is tied to an incomplete Internet Explorer installation. On Windows 10 and Windows 11, identify the caller first. Reinstalling an obsolete browser component may not repair a third-party program with a stale dependency.
Does admparse.dll belong to Visual C++ or DirectX?
No evidence ties it to those runtimes. Installing Visual C++ Redistributable, DirectX, or .NET should not be the first repair.
Why does SFC report no corruption but the error remains?
The file may belong to an application package rather than the active Windows component store, antivirus may have quarantined it, or another dependency may be missing. Identify the parent process, inspect application logs, check security history, and repair the affected program.
What if the error appears on every startup?
Check Startup Apps, Task Scheduler, login scripts, and enterprise deployment software for a reference to an old program. Disable or repair the caller rather than placing a DLL in a system directory.
