Before you start Aion 2, know that the global version is a free-to-play PC game built around faction choice, manual three-dimensional combat, exploration, and several different activity types. The most useful first-session decisions are choosing a class for its role rather than an outdated launch list, learning movement and camera control, and checking your regional client’s current progression and trade notices.
1. Pick a faction and class from the current roster
Aion 2 sets the Elyos and Asmodians against each other, with separate starting regions. Your faction shapes where you begin; class choice is the more direct decision about how you want to fight and support a group.
Do not rely on an old “eight classes” list as a complete roster. NCSoft’s May 2025 overview introduced eight classes, but its July 6, 2026 update added Brawler, which uses Gauntlets. Class names and availability can vary by regional service, so check the roster shown in your own client before committing.
NCSoft’s descriptions offer broad role cues, not a ranking of strength: Templar is the tank, while Cleric and Chanter fill support roles. Other classes cover melee, ranged, magic damage, and solo-oriented play. Choose the role and combat range that sound enjoyable; the available information does not establish a best class, damage ranking, or difficulty order.

2. Learn movement and camera control before worrying about builds
NCSoft describes Aion 2 as manual, skill-based combat, and Steam highlights action in three dimensions. Movement and camera control are therefore sensible early priorities: spend time learning how to orient yourself and move through combat before assuming a build or control setup is the answer.
The game is listed as PC-only on its current English Steam page. A gaming mouse for MMO keybinds is an optional setup choice, not a stated requirement; the sources do not establish that a particular device or control configuration improves results.

3. Explore vertically, not just along the quest path
The story takes place 200 years after the original AION. NCSoft describes a world with flight across regions and underwater exploration, so exploration is not limited to moving along the ground from one objective to the next.
NCSoft characterized Aion 2’s world as “over 36 times larger in scale” than the original game in its 2025 overview. That is the publisher’s comparison, not an independent measurement. In practice, follow your faction’s regions and look for places to explore in the air and underwater rather than treating the game as only a queue for dungeons.

4. Try the activity that suits you before deciding what to pursue
NCSoft’s feature showcase lists solo activities, group instances, competitive PvP, and casual activities. The global site also describes five-player expeditions. These options give you different ways to spend time; their presence does not establish that one activity is mandatory or the best route for every new player.
| Activity lane | What it offers | A useful first step |
|---|---|---|
| Solo | Activities designed to play alone | Try one while learning your class and movement. |
| Group instances | Party-based content, including five-player expeditions listed on the global site | Check the current party requirements and instance details in your client. |
| Competitive PvP | Player-versus-player competition | Sample it if competition appeals to you; the showcase confirms the activity type, not a required progression route. |
| Casual activities | Non-competitive options identified in NCSoft’s showcase | Use them to vary your play rather than assuming every session must focus on combat progression. |
5. Check current notices for progression, trading, and support rules
Aion 2’s systems are changing across updates and regional services. A rule reported for one version or date may not describe the client you are playing, so use in-game notices as the final reference for current requirements and eligibility.

Progression details are date- and region-specific
NCSoft’s July 6, 2026 update for its serviced game raised the level cap to 50, added Stigma skills up to level 25, and introduced the Brawler class. It also added Morheim and Eltnen, plus two level-50 dungeons with a stated baseline item-level requirement of 3,500. In that update, Expedition and Transcendence party sizes increased to five, while Sanctuary parties increased to ten. These are dated update details, not a guarantee that every region or later client has the same rules.
Support programs and shop offers have eligibility conditions
The same July update described a Sprout Badge for eligible new players and returning players who had been inactive for at least 28 days. The described returner condition applied to players logging in on or after June 14; the badge could remain active for up to 30 days or end when specified combat-power and item-level conditions were met. The update also described optional progression-support packages available through the shop. Check your own client for current eligibility, timing, and offers rather than assuming these details apply everywhere.

Trading and event rewards can change
A Steam Community notice says direct player-to-player trade is disabled in the global version and identifies the Market as the central trade hub. NCSoft’s August 2025 showcase had earlier described trading items with in-game currency rather than premium currency; that dated statement does not fully describe current global monetization.
NCSoft’s global site listed launch celebration mounts for eligible accounts created by December 2, 2026 (JST), with a December 9 claim deadline. It said rewards were granted once per region through in-game mail. Because these dates are temporary, check the official site and your client to confirm whether the offer is still available.

The global PC version launched October 5, 2026, and is free to play on Steam. The current English Steam listing says “PC only,” so do not assume the global version has official mobile support. NCSoft’s earlier regional launch information also cites its PURPLE platform; platform availability should be checked for your region.
