What does the official trailer reveal?
Strange Creature Factory Ltd. describes the trailer as the game’s first official trailer reveal. It introduces the bleak maritime setting and the central premise: Draga is trapped in a world where steam-and-steel technology meets ancient gods. The studio’s official site sums up that atmosphere as “An alternate 1900s, where ancient gods and vessels of steam and steel meet in the same black water.”

The studio’s Steam announcement said it was preparing an updated demo for publishers while seeking a publishing partner. It also said the team had been unfunded up to that point; that is the studio’s account of its production status, not an independently verified financial assessment. Greg Strangis’s ArtStation trailer post likewise mentions updating the demo for publishers and investors.
What is Black Tides: Draga’s Wake about?
The story takes place in 1909, beyond the known world. Draga, a hardened smuggler and pirate first mate, is searching for his missing crew after a final heist goes wrong. The search leads him aboard the colossal whaling steamship Ormora, trapped in ice and overtaken by a doomsday cult—and something older. The official site also describes Driftwood Bay, a frozen settlement swallowed by wind and fog.

As an ancient god takes root in Draga, he must contend with the divide between the survivor he has been and what he is becoming. The developers frame the story around that transformation rather than presenting Draga as a conventional hero.
What kind of game is it?
The developers describe Draga’s Wake as a single-player, third-person action horror game built around exploration and close-quarters combat. Its official gameplay pillars are “Absorb,” “Confront,” and “Explore.” The details below are developer descriptions; they are not based on independently verified hands-on play.

Absorb: take power from the dead
Draga can absorb the dead. According to the Steam listing, this shapes his skill tree and mutations, as well as the fates of crewmates and survivors he encounters. The absorption mechanic is tied to his changing nature, so progression and story choices are presented as connected systems.
Confront: brawler combat and a changing form
The developers describe close-range brawler combat with dodges and heavy combos, with quick-fire ranged attacks woven into melee. Draga can also enter a “Vessel State,” which the Steam page says changes how he fights, moves, and sees. The listing describes ammunition, health, and power as scarce, suggesting that resource management is part of the intended tension.

The available descriptions establish the locations and exploration focus, but do not provide a complete map or detailed account of mission structure.
Is Black Tides: Draga’s Wake available on Steam?
No. The Steam store page currently says the game is not yet available and gives its planned release date as “To be announced.” There is no confirmed release date in the official information here, so third-party dates should not be treated as confirmation.

The Steam language table currently lists 14 languages: English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Russian, Spanish (Latin America), Swedish, Ukrainian, Italian, and Spanish (Spain). It marks English audio and subtitles; the other listed languages have interface and subtitle support, without full-audio checkmarks. Turkish is not among the languages currently listed. How graphic is the horror?
Steam’s mature-content note warns of intense fantasy violence, graphic gore, blood, dismemberment, and disturbing body horror. That content warning is worth checking if those themes are a concern.
What is confirmed about the trailer’s reception?
In an October 2026 Steam announcement, the studio thanked supporters for reaching its first 10,000 wishlists. That figure is a developer-reported milestone, not an independently audited count. The current Steam listing says there are no user reviews, so there is not yet a review record on the store to assess.
For updates, consult the studio’s Steam Community page and the official site; availability, requirements, and localization can change while the game remains in development.
