Before character creation: coordinate with friends and choose deliberately
Agree on faction and server before anyone creates a character
If playing together matters, settle on a faction and server as a group before character creation. The unofficial AION 2 Wiki beginner guide and Space4Games beginner guide describe these as consequential choices that may be difficult or unavailable to change. Because both guides are unofficial and the latter was published before global release, check the current character-creation screen and official rules for your region rather than assuming a transfer or faction switch is possible.
Choose a class for the role you want to play
A class ranking is a snapshot, not a durable reason to pick a character. Think about whether you prefer durability, ranged damage, support or healing, or a more specialized playstyle, and whether you expect to play mostly solo or in a group. Consider complexity and whether the class feels comfortable to control, not just its place on a tier list.
Class-change availability can depend on the game version. Space4Games reported finding no free class-change option in its pre-release research; that does not establish the current global rule. Check the live client before assuming you can change class later, and be prepared that trying a different class may require another character.

Set up controls and comfort options before a long session
Try both control modes
Spend a few minutes with both action and classic control modes, if both are available in your client. Compare how accurately and comfortably you can move, target, fight, and interact. Neither mode is universally superior; the better choice is the one that suits your habits and the way you play.
Review the options that affect routine play
Before settling into a long session, check potion auto-use, loot filtering, interface size, and visual settings. Adjust them for your preferences and hardware. These are workflow and comfort choices, not a promise that one setup is best for every player. The unofficial guides from Space4Games and the AION 2 Wiki recommend reviewing settings early.

Use the main quest to structure early progression
Follow the main quest, then fill gaps with regional missions
For a low-friction start, treat the main quest as your progression spine. If you need more progression or want to explore, use regional missions to fill the gap rather than abandoning the main route for every optional activity. The AION 2 Wiki, Space4Games, and the unofficial AION2.world beginner guide all discuss early questing and leveling, but they do not establish a universal time-to-level: pace depends on route, dialogue, optional activities, and the version you are playing.
Avoid overspending on gear and limited resources
Ask whether an item will last before enhancing it
Before spending heavily to enhance an item, consider whether the next progression tier is likely to replace it. The unofficial AION 2 Wiki guide relays a player’s report from Korea and Taiwan that enhancement and some stats transferred while other investments did not. Treat that as an individual account, not a universal transfer rule. Check the current client’s item and enhancement details before committing valuable materials.

These are guide recommendations, not guarantees about the best use of the resource in every live version. Check current costs, caps, and rewards in the client, then compare an activity’s immediate progression value and resource cost with whether its reward is useful at your current stage.
Practice flight and three-dimensional positioning
Do not treat flight as only a way to travel. The unofficial AION2.world guide presents it as relevant to combat, exploration, and spatial control, and recommends practicing aerial positioning early. Get comfortable moving and dodging in three dimensions in a low-pressure setting before relying on those skills in demanding encounters. Exact controls and flight rules may vary by version, so use the instructions shown in your client.

Check current patch notes before trusting old class or system advice
AION 2 systems and balance can change, so treat older guides as starting points rather than live documentation. For example, NCSOFT’s March 25, 2026 update announcement described a class rebalance, new Stigma skills, up to five Stigma slots, Chaotic Abyss, Kina (Bound), and separate PvP and PvE damage calculations for that update. That dated announcement does not confirm the October 2026 global state. For volatile details such as balance, skills, and PvP rules, consult current global patch notes and the client rather than carrying forward advice from a different region or earlier build.
