Start with a low-risk settings pass
Aion 2 uses manual combat controls, so small adjustments to keybinds and target selection can affect how comfortable combat feels. Change only one or two settings at a time, then try them in ordinary play before revising more of your setup. Menu names and available options may vary by platform, region, language, and game update.
- Open Key Settings. Identify one or two frequently used actions that are awkward to reach and move them to comfortable keys.
- Review targeting. Try Search Direction set to Front of Camera and see whether selecting targets feels more predictable.
- Check buff auto-use. Set automatic buff use to In Combat if you want to avoid using buffs while moving or preparing.
- Adjust graphics only as needed. If you are prioritizing FPS, begin by lowering Effect Quality and Mass Combat Quality.
- Test the result. Practice in a low-pressure activity before relying on a new binding or targeting behavior in difficult content.
These are third-party guide recommendations, not official presets or results from controlled testing. NCSOFT’s overview of the game describes manual combat controls and Easy Mode instance dungeons for newcomers, but does not specify current settings-menu labels: NCSOFT’s AION2 overview.
Which keybinds are worth changing first?
Prioritize actions you need often, especially when a delay or awkward reach could interrupt movement or recovery. Mobalytics highlights flying, flying upward, interaction, and crowd-control break as actions to consider placing within comfortable reach. A side mouse button can be useful, but remapping a keyboard key is enough for many players.

Change a small number of bindings first and practice them until they feel natural. A combat macro is an optional choice some players may assign to right-click; it is not a required part of a beginner setup. An unofficial Global settings guide also suggests assigning a macro key and separating the Defiance hotkey, but says its values are drawn from creators’ videos and should be treated as starting points. Do not assume those suggestions behave identically in every current client.
How should you set target selection?
Search Direction: Front of Camera
Mobalytics recommends Front of Camera so target search follows the direction you are facing. Try it if you want selection to align more closely with your view; switch back if another search behavior suits your play better.

Target priority in PvP
If you spend time in PvP, consider placing hostile players ahead of spirit-related targets in target priority. This is a situational choice, not a universal setting for every activity. An unofficial Global guide gives similar advice, but its suggested values rely on video sources and may differ by client or patch.
Target pursuit and range
Mobalytics suggests enabling target pursuit for melee builds that want to close distance when activating a skill. Ranged players who want to maintain spacing may prefer to leave it off. Consider the behavior you want in combat rather than treating either option as a general advantage.

When should buffs auto-use, and what can you hide?
Automatic buff use
Set automatic buff use to In Combat if you want to reduce unwanted use while moving around or preparing. Mobalytics cautions that, in some control setups, left-click attacks can still trigger buff scrolls, so watch how your own configuration behaves.

If a busy view makes combat harder to read, Mobalytics suggests trying some of these optional visibility changes:

- Enable boss orientation indicators if directional awareness helps you.
- Disable floating combat numbers if they obscure action.
- In crowded Abyss battles, turn off tier icons above player names and enable Identical Player Appearance.
These changes trade visual detail for a less crowded view; choose only the ones that help you read the scene.

If your priority is FPS, Mobalytics recommends starting with Effect Quality and Mass Combat Quality at their lowest settings. These are sensible first options to try, particularly when effects or large fights make the screen busy, but the result depends on your PC and the activity. No source cited here provides controlled FPS gains for individual settings, so do not expect a particular numerical improvement.

Keep other settings at levels your PC handles comfortably. NCSOFT’s published FHD preset guidance is a compatibility recommendation, not a guarantee of stable frame rates in every scene. Its support FAQ, dated 2026-07-21, lists the following PC requirements and presets:

What camera settings can make play more comfortable?
Try turning Camera Shake off if you prefer a steadier view. Mobalytics also suggests changing teleport effect color to Dark if the bright transition is uncomfortable. Both are comfort preferences; the cited guides do not establish either as a tested competitive advantage.
How do you choose settings for your play style?
- For a new player: Start with comfortable keybinds and Front of Camera targeting, then practice before changing more.
- For melee: Test target pursuit if you want skills to close distance.
- For ranged play: Consider leaving pursuit off if you want more control over spacing.
- For PvP: Consider prioritizing hostile players over spirit-related targets.
- For crowded fights: Try reducing effect and mass-combat quality, then remove visual elements that obscure the action.
- For camera comfort: Test Camera Shake off and a Dark teleport effect if either improves readability for you.
The purpose of a first settings pass is to remove friction, not to copy a fixed competitive setup. Keep the changes that feel useful in your own class and activities.
