Before starting AION 2, choose a class and faction for the kind of play you enjoy, learn to move and fight in three dimensions, and treat early gear and leveling advice as flexible—not as a guaranteed fastest route. The global service officially launched on October 5, 2026; that is separate from the Korean and Taiwanese launch on November 19, 2025. Here are nine practical tips, with dated requirements and community advice clearly distinguished.
1. Pick a class for its role, not a supposed permanent tier list
NCSOFT’s June 2025 overview describes classes by their intended roles, but it is a pre-launch overview—not a current balance ranking. For a first character, start with the range and group job you find appealing, then check current service updates for changes.

The overview lists eight classes, but the available role descriptions do not identify the other two here. Don’t read the table as a complete roster or as a claim about current strength. The unofficial AION 2 World beginner guide suggests Gladiator or Ranger for a smoother first run; that is community advice, not an established beginner ranking.
2. Choose a faction for its setting and community, then check current rules
NCSOFT identifies two factions, Elyos and Asmodians, with separate starting regions. Their stories and visual identity are sensible reasons to choose between them. The fan guide characterizes the choice as mainly story and appearance, but that does not establish that faction has no effect on current matchmaking, server rules, or other systems. Check the official service information for your region if those details matter to you.

3. Learn to move and fight in three dimensions
AION 2 is built around movement through a world that can be explored on foot, in the air, and underwater. NCSOFT describes full aerial freedom and manual combat with responsive hit detection. Practice repositioning while airborne as well as on the ground; relying only on a ground-level view means missing a central part of the game’s movement design.
The reviewed official sources do not provide a control map, so use the in-game instructions for your platform rather than assuming a particular key or button. The global site links to Steam, but that alone does not establish which input methods are supported or preferred.
4. Use quests to learn the game; don’t assume one route is fastest
The unofficial beginner guide recommends story and daily quests, saying they provide experience and unlock waypoints and progression. Treat that as a useful starting routine, not a universal leveling formula: the available official information does not establish the fastest route for every class, patch, or region.
- Follow story quests as a way to encounter the game’s systems and areas.
- Pick up daily quests when they fit the time you have available.
- Use a waypoint or other progression unlock when the game presents it, rather than putting off exploration to chase an unsupported experience-per-minute target.
5. Equip useful upgrades without over-investing in short-lived gear
The fan guide advises equipping early upgrades, prioritizing stats that fit your role, and selling or salvaging equipment that has become obsolete. That is community guidance rather than an official optimization rule. As a practical beginner approach, compare new equipment with what you have, use upgrades that clearly help, and avoid spending heavily on an item you expect to replace soon.

6. Use parties for group play, not on faith as an XP shortcut
The fan guide recommends party dungeon clears for fast leveling, but no official source reviewed confirms that dungeons are the best leveling method for every class or current version. Group up when you want to learn dungeon mechanics or play with others; choose the activity that suits your goal rather than assuming it always beats questing for experience.
7. Treat level caps and dungeon gates as version-specific
NCSOFT’s July 6, 2026 update raised the level cap to 50. In that same update, the newly introduced Citadel of the Fallen Daeva and Abyssal Horn Den had baseline entry requirements of level 50 and item level 3,500. These are dated endgame requirements, not targets for your first hours. For the current cap, dungeon access, and any changed requirements, consult the Chapter 1 update notes and later official notices.

8. Check whether new-player or returning-player support applies to you
The July 2026 update described a Sprout Badge for new players and returning players who had been away for at least 28 days. It said the badge lasted up to 30 days or until its requirements were reached, and also described optional paid progression-support packages for returning players. Those are patch-specific details, not a standing promise for every account or region. Read the current notice and in-game eligibility text before planning around a badge or package.
9. Verify launch rewards and service details before acting
The NCSOFT global site advertises two free mounts sent to in-game mail for eligible accounts. Its stated deadlines are account creation by December 2, 2026, at 3:30 PM JST and reward claim by December 9, 2026, at 3:30 PM JST. This is a time-limited offer: confirm eligibility, regional availability, and the current terms on the official global site before relying on it.

What NCSOFT’s scale claims do—and don’t—tell a beginner
In its June 2025 pre-launch announcement, NCSOFT said AION 2’s world was 36 times larger than the original game, character creation had over 200 adjustable features, and the game had over 200 dungeons. Those are developer-published claims from 2025, not independent measurements or a verified count of the current live version. They signal an emphasis on exploration and customization, but they are not a reason to delay starting until you have optimized a character.
