For solo play, start with Gladiator if you want a durable melee fighter, or Spiritmaster—called Elementalist in NCSOFT’s March 2026 update announcement—if you want a summoned companion to add damage and utility. Neither is a proven universal winner: the available guides describe class roles, but do not provide an official solo ranking or controlled comparison.
How to choose a solo class
Solo comfort depends on more than damage. Consider how well a class can stay alive, how it delivers damage, whether it can fight at range, and how much attention its positioning and mechanics demand. The available guides do not score classes consistently on these factors, so the comparisons below are qualitative rather than a numeric tier list.
If you also plan to play group content, weigh the class identity you enjoy there; a class that suits solo leveling may not match your preferred group role.
Best-supported starting choices
Gladiator: damage with staying power
Gladiator is the clearest recommendation for a player who wants a durable melee character. The class-roles guide describes it as dealing significant damage while maintaining threat and having high HP. That combination supports a straightforward solo preference: hit hard while retaining more staying power than a damage-only identity suggests. It does not establish Gladiator as the fastest clearer or prove it outperforms every other class.

Spiritmaster / Elementalist: a companion in the fight
Choose the summon-based class if you like having another combatant alongside you. The guides describe its summoned creature as contributing damage and utility, making it a strong fit for self-sufficient play. NCSOFT’s March 25, 2026 announcement uses the name Elementalist, while global-facing guides use Spiritmaster; check the class name in your region’s live client.
How the other classes fit solo play
| Class | Solo-oriented fit | Trade-off or evidence limit |
|---|---|---|
| Templar | Defensive, tank-oriented option for players who value durability. | Expect toughness to come at the expense of faster clearing; the reviewed sources do not establish it as the quickest solo choice. |
| Ranger | Ranged choice for players who prefer distance and reacting from range with bow attacks. | The available descriptions do not establish Ranger as a top solo performer. |
| Assassin | Damage-focused option for players comfortable with positioning and mechanics. | Damage potential does not automatically make it easy or forgiving to play alone. |
| Sorcerer | Caster choice for players who enjoy damage that rewards skilled play. | The guide emphasizes awareness and mechanics; it does not establish comparative solo ease. |
| Cleric | Healing identity may appeal to players who prioritize survivability. | The reviewed sources do not compare its solo clear speed with damage-focused classes. |
| Chanter | Flexible, multi-role identity for players who value utility. | The reviewed sources do not quantify its solo performance against other classes. |
Roster names and patch changes to check
Global-launch-period guides describe eight classes: Templar, Gladiator, Assassin, Ranger, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster, Cleric, and Chanter. NCSOFT’s March 25, 2026 update announcement describes a comprehensive class overhaul, balance adjustments, and new Stigma skills for every class. Because the update is dated and class balance can change, check the current client and region-specific patch information before relying on a time-sensitive build or skill recommendation. The announcement describes the update’s scope; it does not show that classes are equally balanced or identify a best solo class.

What the comparisons can—and cannot—tell you
The role descriptions support a practical shortlist, not a definitive ranking. Gladiator is the grounded pick for melee durability plus damage; Spiritmaster/Elementalist is the pet-oriented pick for extra damage and utility. Templar, ranged and damage-focused options, and support identities each suit different preferences, but the reviewed sources do not report standardized solo scores, controlled class tests, DPS rankings, or clear times. Treat the recommendation as a playstyle fit, not a measured performance result.
