To improve Essence Extraction in Aion 2, keep gathering to raise its skill level and invest the skill points you earn: NCSOFT says extraction level increases both gathering speed and success rate. You can attempt gathering from character level 45, while the Professional specialty quest becomes available at Essence Extraction level 50. The available sources do not publish exact success percentages by level or skill, so there is no verified numeric chance or proven optimal point-by-point build to rely on.
How Essence Extraction attempts work
Essence Extraction is Aion 2’s gathering system. When you interact with a node, watch its durability and the success and failure gauges. The attempt succeeds if the success gauge reaches 100% first; it fails if the failure gauge reaches 100% first. Either outcome consumes node durability, and the node disappears when that durability is exhausted. The official guide does not establish a universal number of attempts per node because the remaining durability matters. NCSOFT’s Taiwan system guide, updated March 30, 2026, is the primary reference for these mechanics and notes that details may differ in-game.
How to improve your success rate
Gather repeatedly to raise your skill
Repeated extraction raises your Essence Extraction level and awards dedicated skill points. NCSOFT says a higher extraction level improves gathering speed and success rate; learned skills are passive. The guide distinguishes common extraction skills, a point reset, and specialist skills focused on resource categories. It does not quantify the success-rate increase for each level or point. NCSOFT’s guide
Choose skills for your goal
VGC’s October 5, 2026 guide discusses common skills called Proficient Handling, Delicate Touch, and Lady Luck, as well as skills for particular node types. It recommends taking the first skill for each node type to reveal nearby nodes on the minimap. Treat these as practical guide suggestions, not measured guarantees or a tested optimal build. The available descriptions support investing in passive skills that match the resources you gather, but do not establish a best allocation. VGC’s guide

Gather where useful nodes are available
Extraction covers ore, gems, logs, herbs, cooking ingredients, and Odyle nodes. VGC names Orichalcum, Raydam, Azpha, and Odyle as examples of areas or resources to consider when looking for a mix of node types. Availability can vary by service and client version, so check the current map rather than assuming every listed node is present. No source establishes one best farming route or a numerical success advantage for a particular route.
Professional specialty: requirements and faction quest
Character level 45 is the gathering access requirement; it is separate from the Essence Extraction level 50 milestone for the specialty promotion quest. The Global quest records specify mastery 50, completion of a specialty test, and one Splendent Ruby. They list different Ruby areas by faction:
Rank #2
| Faction | Quest NPC | Ruby areas listed | Quest record |
|---|---|---|---|
| Elyos | Korius Verteron | Ellun River Midstream; Verteron Fortress Ruins; Destroyed Abyss Gate; Kraka Footpath | AION 2 Gaming Tools, Elyos quest |
| Asmodians | Alzirr Altgard | Dredgion Crash Site; Calderon Canyon; Tranein Highland; Silent Hill; Nameless Cemetery | AION 2 Gaming Tools, Asmodian quest |
- Raise Essence Extraction to level 50 and take the specialty promotion quest for your faction.
- Speak with Korius Verteron as Elyos or Alzirr Altgard as Asmodian, then complete the specialty test listed in the quest.
- Gather one Splendent Ruby from a faction-appropriate area listed above and return to the quest NPC.
The quest records are for Aion 2 Global version 1.0.21.0 and were updated September 30, 2026. Their locations are database-listed possibilities, not a guarantee that a node will be available when you arrive; confirm the live quest UI and map if they differ.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What the sources establish about success rates
The official system guide and current guide material establish the direction of improvement—higher Essence Extraction skill and upgrades help—but provide no verified percentage table, per-point rate, or controlled comparison of routes. Avoid treating a particular number, allocation, or farming loop as a guaranteed success-rate boost. For current interface wording, node availability, and patch-specific behavior, defer to the game in your service region; the official mechanics reference is NCSOFT Taiwan’s guide, while the Ruby requirements above come from Global quest records.
