Press V to start or end flight, and Space to start or end a glide. Steering uses the same movement controls as on the ground; Shift accelerates powered flight. Gliding is a slower descent, with separate speed behavior: hold W to gain speed while it is held, or tap and hold Shift for a temporary boost.

These controls and behaviors are stated in the official NCSOFT Taiwan flight guide. The guide is from the Taiwan region and may not match every detail or label in a later global client, so check your own controls if a listed key does not work.
What glide does—and what happens when the gauge runs out
Glide is a slower, descending movement mode rather than powered flight. Flight and glide both consume the flight gauge. The official guide says the character falls if that gauge is depleted while airborne; it does not state a duration, safe travel distance, or recharge rule.
Flight and glide share a cooldown, but the guide says you can transition between the two immediately. That lets you switch modes without waiting for a cooldown between them, but it does not remove the shared gauge cost.

Check and adjust your keybindings
An English-language third-party settings guide reports Ctrl+R for Fly Up and Ctrl+F for Fly Down, and recommends rebinding them to keys that are easier to reach. Those are reported defaults, not confirmed universal bindings. Open the live client’s Key Settings menu and verify the actions and current keys before changing them.
For a practical layout, make both vertical flight controls reachable while you steer, then check that the bindings do not collide with jump, glide, or defensive actions you use in combat. A side mouse button is one optional place to put Fly Up if it feels comfortable; no special mouse is required.

The same third-party guide notes that Space may overlap with Defiance, jump, or glide depending on the default bindings. If pressing it triggers an action you did not intend, inspect the binding list and consider moving the conflicting action—such as Defiance—to a separate key. Keep whichever arrangement lets you trigger the actions reliably.

The settings guide characterizes AION 2 mode as action-oriented, with aim centered and the camera following mouse movement. It describes AION 1 mode as a free-cursor scheme in which the camera turns while you hold the right mouse button. The difference affects how you aim, select targets, and access the interface, so try both in a low-pressure setting and keep the one that feels more natural. Neither mode is established as best for every player.
