Use an Aion 2 macro for a short, predictable sequence of attacks you want to repeat; use manual keybinds for actions that depend on timing or judgment. Neither option is proven to deal more damage in every class or encounter. A macro reduces repeated inputs, but you still choose your target, move, react, and decide when to start or stop the sequence.
What an Aion 2 macro does in combat
Aion 2’s built-in macro feature is an input sequence, not a fully automatic combat mode. Guides describe configuring it in the Skill window and assigning the separate Macro action under Settings → Key Settings → General → Gameplay. The macro must be bound before you can activate it. Aion 2 Maps’ macro guide and All Things How’s setup guide both describe using configured hotbar actions in a sequence.
Hold the assigned key to run the sequence; releasing it stops the held action. Each entry points to a hotbar position, so skills stacked on the same position may be tried through that input. The guides differ in some details of ordering and priority, so treat the macro as repeatedly attempting configured actions rather than as a guaranteed cast order under every cooldown or combat condition. You remain responsible for movement, target selection, and encounter responses.
When a macro is the better choice
A macro is most useful for a compact loop of frequently used attacks or filler skills that are worthwhile whenever available. It can cut down on repeated individual presses and make the sequence more consistent. These are convenience advantages, not evidence of a measured damage increase.

- Record Combos On the Fly, No Software Required - 5 dedicated macro keys (G1-G5) let you save complex combos or shortcuts directly on the keyboard, plus dedicated media controls for play/pause/skip.
- Swap Switches Without Soldering, Hype Clicky Feedback - The upgraded socket accepts almost any switch, and stock Blue switches deliver a distinct tactile bump and audible click on every keystroke.
- Built to Outlast Daily Gaming - Rated for 50 million keystrokes with double-shot keycaps that resist fading, so the board holds up to years of heavy use.
- Full Anti-Ghosting for Fast-Paced Games - 104 keys register accurately even during rapid multi-key combos, so your inputs land exactly when you press them.
- Optional Software for Power Users - Everyday use needs zero software, but for advanced RGB effects and deeper macro profiles, companion software is available whenever you want to go further.
- The actions are useful often, rather than reserved for a particular enemy action or phase.
- The sequence remains sensible when a skill is on cooldown or a target or other precondition changes.
- The sequence is short enough that you can stop it promptly when combat calls for a different response.
When manual keybinds are better
Keep skills manual when using them at the wrong moment would waste an important response or disrupt your plan. A fixed loop may reach a situational action when it is not needed, or retrigger a toggle buff. Aion 2 Maps recommends keeping movement and burst skills manual; the same reasoning applies to abilities that require a deliberate decision.
- Defenses, cleanses, and interrupts: activate them in response to a threat, not simply because they are next in a loop.
- Movement and gap closers: choose direction and timing yourself.
- Charged abilities: retain control over when to begin and release them.
- Major burst skills: save them for a useful encounter window instead of letting a repeated sequence dictate their timing.
How to set up and tune a macro
- Bind the Macro action: open Settings → Key Settings → General → Gameplay and assign it a key.
- Build the sequence: open the Skill window, configure a short list of hotbar actions, and check every entry. Aion 2 Maps warns that a newly added step may default to a basic attack.
- Choose a comfortable key: use a keyboard key or, if it suits your grip and layout, a mouse side button. The mouse option is a convenience, not a combat requirement.
- Test registration: Aion 2 Maps reports a 10 ms minimum delay and recommends starting there, then testing on a training dummy and increasing it slightly if actions fail to register. All Things How also describes 10 ms as a common starting point, but reports disagreement about whether network latency should change the setting. Ping-based values in community advice are not verified rules.
- Try it in your actual setup: confirm that the sequence behaves as expected with your skills, hotbar, and client, then remove any action that triggers at an inconvenient time.
Keep the loop compact. Long sequences can delay useful actions, and putting buffs into a repeated loop risks using them at the wrong time or toggling them again. Interface labels and settings may vary by client or patch.

Does a macro or manual play do more damage?
The available guides do not provide controlled, class-by-class comparisons or a comparable DPS benchmark. There is no established universal damage winner. The practical choice is between convenience for predictable repetition and direct control over timing-sensitive actions. Test the setup in your own client; results may depend on your skills, encounter, and how reliably the sequence registers.

This comparison concerns Aion 2’s built-in feature. A community guide discusses external programmable-device macros, but the available material does not establish current official policy for them. Check the current official game terms before using external automation rather than treating community claims as definitive account-safety guidance.
