AION 2’s official Launch FAQ says Steam and PURPLE players share servers and have the same in-game content. What’s different between Steam and PURPLE?
The official AION 2 Launch FAQ says: “No, the in-game content is the same for both Steam and Purple users.” It also confirms that players on the two platforms share servers. Do you need to link Steam and PURPLE?
No, not if you intend to play only through Steam. The FAQ says Steam players can play without linking to PURPLE. Linking is for players who want the same character and progression available through both platforms. Which launcher fits your situation?

The official material reviewed does not establish that either launcher has better performance, lower latency, faster downloads, greater reliability, or a specific payment advantage. Treat those as unproven comparisons rather than reasons to choose one.
Check local availability, languages, and device support
The official FAQ lists North America, South America, Europe, and Japan as global server regions. That list does not prove that every country can access the game through every storefront or connect to every intended server. Check the current AION 2 page and the relevant store for your country before installing. The FAQ lists English, French, German, Spanish (Spain), Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Japanese, and Korean for UI and subtitles; voice-over languages are English, Japanese, and Korean. Official support is for Windows PC on Steam and PURPLE. The FAQ says controller play is possible but not officially supported, and Linux and Steam Deck are not officially supported at this time. If either unsupported setup is essential to your decision, do not assume it will work reliably based on the Windows PC listing.

- Check your country and intended server. Confirm AION 2 is currently available through the platform you plan to use.
- Choose your account route. Pick Steam or PURPLE based on the account and storefront you already prefer. Choose linking only if you want the same character and progression available from both.
- Verify Windows PC readiness. Compare your hardware and available storage with Steam’s published requirements before downloading.
