Alan Wake 2: The Lake House released on October 22, 2024. Remedy called it the game’s second and final expansion. Remedy’s latest update listed as of August 18, 2026, adds PC support for FSR 4 and FSR Frame Generation and includes fixes across platforms.
What is The Lake House?
The Lake House is a survival-horror expansion set in an FBC research station on the shore of Cauldron Lake. A catastrophic experiment causes reality to collide with the Dark Place. You play as FBC agent Kiran Estevez, portrayed by Janina Gavankar, in a story that runs parallel to the main game. Remedy says the expansion offers another perspective on Cauldron Lake through the FBC and connects to its wider universe. It adds a new enemy type and the Black Rock Launcher.

How to start The Lake House
The expansion is included in the Expansion Pass, which Remedy lists as part of the digital and physical Deluxe Editions. Standard Edition owners can upgrade to Deluxe to get the expansion. Remedy’s FAQ lists the upgrade at $20 / €20 / £15; prices can vary or change, so check your platform’s current storefront price.

- From the main menu, select Expansions and choose The Lake House.
- Alternatively, during the main campaign’s Return 06, ask Estevez about the Lake House to access it in the story.
You do not have to finish the base game before starting the expansion. Remedy’s FAQ estimates a 10 GB download on PS5 and 16 GB on PC and Xbox. Those are estimates from October 2024, not guaranteed current install sizes. The Lake House is downloadable content even when bought with the physical Deluxe Edition; the disc does not include the expansion itself.

Remedy’s FAQ also describes a Collector’s Edition produced by Limited Run Games, with an Angel Lamp replica, Ocean View Hotel keychain and key, Coffee World pin set, and artbook. Current stock and pricing are not established here; check the retailer directly. For a physical console purchase, confirm the listing is the Deluxe Edition for your platform and includes the Expansion Pass.

What the August 18, 2026 update changes
Remedy’s update notes list August 18, 2026, as the date of the latest update. Listed versions are PlayStation 5 1.200.009, Xbox Series 1.2.0.10, and PC 1.2.10. This is the latest update listed by Remedy, not confirmation that no separate hotfix exists.
PC graphics features
- FSR 4 support is automatically enabled on supported GPUs when FSR Super Resolution is selected.
- FSR Frame Generation is available as an option on supported GPUs.
- Opacity Micromaps and Shader Execution Reordering now use the Agility SDK, enabling support across multiple GPU vendors.
Fixes across platforms
- Fixes lingering audio synchronization issues during cinematics.
- Fixes a New Game Plus stash access issue and a potential Quick Slots crash.
- Includes other minor fixes and improvements.
What the free Anniversary Update added
Released on October 22, 2024, the Anniversary Update was free for all Alan Wake 2 owners. Its options included horizontal-axis inversion, controller stick swaps, sprint and aim toggles, and automatic completion of Quick Time Events. Gameplay assists included immortality, unlimited ammo, unlimited flashlight charges, and one-shot kills. On PS5, the update added gyro aiming and refined DualSense haptics. Remedy’s FAQ says The Lake House also adds 10 Trophies/Achievements and new music by Petri Alanko and Poe. Read Remedy’s Anniversary Update details for its feature list.
