Their entrances appear as glowing red diamond rifts, sometimes concealed by destructible scenery. The list below follows area progression, not dungeon number. A separate Nintendo-listed add-on contains three more resource-focused halls; those DLC dungeons are not part of the 20-location base-game checklist.
How to find and replay Outer Dungeons
Outer Dungeons start appearing after your first visit to the Digital World. Look for a glowing red diamond rift in the field. If you do not see one, check nearby breakable scenery: some entrances are hidden behind crates, barrels, rocks, or debris. Use a Digimon’s Digi-Attack to clear the obstruction.

Once you discover an entrance, the dungeon is registered and can be replayed from the Theater. One story walkthrough shows a rift in the Marunonaka Line station area. The locations below use the area labels and cues described by the guides; no reliable coordinate map is established, so the directions are landmarks rather than coordinates.

Completion, rewards, and optional objectives
The GameFAQs challenge guide says a first clear awards a Digimon, while repeat clears can award currency and consumables. It also describes Talent Awakening Boosters and lore as rewards for completing optional crystal objectives. These reward details come from a secondary guide, rather than official patch documentation.
According to that guide, the trophy or achievement requires completing each of the 20 Outer Dungeons once; the extra crystal objectives are not required. This is a guide-reported requirement, not a claim about every platform’s achievement wording.

The 20 locations above are the base-game list. Nintendo separately lists an add-on with three resource-focused Outer Dungeon halls, accessible through the In-Between Theater.
