PowerPyx lists “over 81 boss fights,” while PCGamesN describes “over 100 bosses”; those are guide counts with different or unstated counting rules, not an official roster number. Use the chapter checklist below as a route-oriented aid, and keep required, optional, and secret encounters distinct when tracking progress.
How many bosses are in Black Myth: Wukong?
The answer depends on what a guide counts as a boss, fight, or Journal entry. PowerPyx’s 2024 guide says it covers “over 81 boss fights,” while PCGamesN’s 2025 guide says the game has “over 100 bosses.” Neither figure is an official total, and the available guides do not establish a shared counting rule. Treat them as attributed estimates rather than competing definitive rosters.

Black Myth: Wukong is an action RPG developed and published by Game Science, released on August 19, 2024. Its story is based on Journey to the West, according to the official Steam listing.
Chapter-by-chapter boss checklist
Use chapter as the main navigation axis when checking your run. Within each chapter, mark encounters as main-path, optional, or secret; those labels describe how an encounter is reached, not a universal official classification. Some fights can be approached in a different order depending on route choices, so a checklist order is a guide rather than a guarantee of the order in your save.

PowerPyx provides a chapter-organized route and distinguishes optional and secret encounters in its Black Myth: Wukong all-bosses guide. PCGamesN’s boss guide uses a broader stated total. Consult a chapter route for the specific names and prerequisites in your current section, and record the encounter’s status as you go:
- Main-path: encountered on the route needed to progress the story.
- Optional: can be bypassed without completing that route’s main progression.
- Secret: accessed through a hidden area or a route-specific condition rather than the straightforward main path.
- Potentially missable: an encounter or access condition that may be unavailable after advancing past a relevant point. Check the route guidance before moving on if completion matters to you.
These are practical checklist labels, not claims that every guide uses identical criteria. A boss being optional does not by itself establish whether it is missable, and the cited roster material does not support a universal point-of-no-return warning for every encounter.

How to check completion with the Journal
The in-game Journal is useful for spotting missing entries, but it is not a one-to-one count of every fight. PowerPyx separates Journal classifications such as Yaoguai Chiefs and Yaoguai Kings, and notes that some entries can appear without requiring a boss fight. Therefore, a missing Journal entry and a missed boss encounter are not automatically the same thing.
- Use the Journal to identify which recorded entries you still lack.
- Use a chapter route to determine where and how an encounter is accessed.
- Keep separate notes for required progression, optional fights, and secret-route encounters.
- Do not compare your Journal entry total directly with a guide’s overall boss count; the categories and inclusion rules differ.
Is there a completed missable boss list?
A “missable boss list” is only meaningful when the list explains what it counts and why an encounter is considered missable. The available roster guides organize encounters by chapter and include optional or secret content, but their totals differ and the sources do not establish one official, exhaustive count under a common rule. For a completion run, use a chapter-by-chapter route, check its access conditions before leaving a section, and verify Journal progress as a supplementary—not definitive—check.
