Chapter 3 has four Captain Spirits tied to the prisoner side quest: Captain Lotus-Vision, Captain Wise-Voice, Captain Void-Illusion and Captain Kalpa-Wave. Three come from defeating captains; Captain Void-Illusion’s spirit is collected from a corpse, not a boss fight.
Where to find all four Captain Spirits
The locations span the Pagoda Realm and the Valley of Ecstasy. The guide below distinguishes boss drops from the one spirit you must pick up.

Captain Lotus-Vision: Upper Pagoda, Pagoda Realm
- Travel to the Upper Pagoda shrine.
- Turn around and drop down the cliff directly across from the shrine to reach the hidden boss’s prison cell.
- Defeat Captain Lotus-Vision, then collect his spirit.
Captain Wise-Voice: Mani Wheel, Pagoda Realm
Captain Wise-Voice is a story boss at Mani Wheel. Defeat him and collect the spirit dropped after the fight.
Captain Void-Illusion: Longevity Road, Valley of Ecstasy
- Travel to the Longevity Road shrine.
- Go to the edge of the area and find the colossus corpse.
- Interact with the corpse to obtain Captain Void-Illusion’s spirit.
There is no Captain Void-Illusion boss encounter to beat for this item; the corpse interaction is the step that awards the spirit.

Captain Kalpa-Wave: Longevity Road, Valley of Ecstasy
Captain Kalpa-Wave is another story boss in the Valley of Ecstasy. Defeat him at Longevity Road to receive his spirit.

- Find the prisoner in the second cell near the start of the Pagoda Realm, before the Lower Pagoda shrine. Speaking with him is optional; the captains appear even if you have not talked to him.
- After collecting all four Captain Spirits, return to the prisoner’s cell at Lower Pagoda.
- Hand over the spirits. The reported reward is the Chubai Spearhead crafting material.
A separate pickup is easy to mistake for the quest reward: the dead animal beside the prisoner contains a sword that grants the Ashen Slumber transformation. It is not the reward for turning in the four spirits.
