On PC, unlock Bannerlord cheats by changing cheat_mode = 0 to cheat_mode = 1 in the game’s engine_config.txt file, then launch the game. You can then use inventory and party cheat menus, keyboard shortcuts, or the developer console. The file path and key combinations below are for PC; they are not verified for console editions.
How to enable cheats on PC
- Open Documents > Mount and Blade II Bannerlord > engine_config.txt in a text editor.
- Find
cheat_mode = 0and change it tocheat_mode = 1. - Save the file and launch Bannerlord.
PC Gamer’s guide, updated June 12, 2026, reports that its author used cheats in both an existing campaign and a new one, so starting over was not necessary in that test. That is an author-reported result, not an official guarantee for every save or game version. The same guide notes a staff member’s performance concern, but does not establish that enabling cheats causes performance problems generally. Its core cheat tables were checked against the then-current game and War Sails DLC; the extensive command list was not fully tested. PC Gamer’s Bannerlord cheats guide
Choose a cheat method
| Method | Best for | Input | What to keep in mind |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cheat menus | Adding equipment or troops | Use the inventory or party screen after enabling cheat mode | Choose from the items or units shown in the game menus. |
| Keyboard shortcuts | Quick combat effects, healing, or map movement | Use the listed PC key combinations | Shortcuts are easier to use quickly, but may have immediate effects; one combination can close the game if mistyped. |
| Developer console | Specific campaign changes such as gold, influence, quests, or settlements | Open the console and enter a command with its required arguments | Commands are case-sensitive, and syntax and availability can change between game versions. |
Use the inventory and party cheat menus
With cheat mode active, the inventory screen provides a list of game items you can add to your character’s inventory. The party screen similarly lets you add units to your warband. These menus are a straightforward option when you want gear or reinforcements without looking up a command and its parameters.
Open the developer console
Press Alt + ` (the backtick or grave key above Tab) to open the developer console; press the same combination again to close it. Enter a command and its arguments, then submit it. The June 2026 PC Gamer guide warns that commands are case-sensitive.

For campaign commands, cheat mode must be enabled. Bannerlord.GABS documents a wider command reference and recommends using help to see a command’s format. Its living page lists 133 commands across 17 groups plus seven dedicated-server commands, but the page reviewed did not establish a commit or game-version date; treat the count and coverage as a snapshot, not a permanent list of player-facing cheats. PC combat and map cheat shortcuts
| Shortcut | Effect |
|---|---|
| Ctrl + F4 | Knock out one enemy in combat. |
| Ctrl + Alt + F4 | Knock out the entire enemy army. Because this includes Alt + F4, a mistaken input can close the game. |
| Ctrl + H | Restore the player character to full health. |
| Ctrl + Shift + H | Restore the horse to full health. |
| Ctrl + F2 | Knock out one of your soldiers. |
| Ctrl + F3 | Knock out the player character. |
| Ctrl + Shift + F3 | Knock out your horse when mounted. |
| Ctrl + left-click | Teleport to the clicked location on the world map. |
These are the PC keyboard shortcuts reported by PC Gamer’s June 12, 2026 guide, whose core tables were checked against the current game and War Sails DLC at that time. They are not verified for gamepad or console platforms. PC Gamer’s Bannerlord cheats guide
Useful Bannerlord console commands
In the commands below, replace # with a number. Replace bracketed values such as [TroopID], [SettlementName], or [Faction1] with the relevant in-game value; the brackets are explanatory and should not be typed literally. PC Gamer shows troop arguments separated with | , and gives campaign.add_gold_to_hero 10000 as an example. Use the in-game command help or autocomplete to check syntax for your version.
