The community-maintained 99 Nights in the Forest Wiki links Corrupted Chests to Hard Mode and reports six unique corrupted item names. Its list includes a duplicate Corrupted Revolver entry, however, so treat the roster and item details as unconfirmed rather than a definitive, developer-verified catalog.
Which corrupted items are reported?
The wiki’s Chests guide lists these unique names. It has six table rows, but Corrupted Revolver appears twice.
| Reported item | What the guide says about it |
|---|---|
| Corrupted Axe | The guide tentatively describes it as an item for cutting trees and says it is somewhat better than a Strong Axe. |
| Corrupted Thorn Body | Item-specific use is not stated in the guide. |
| Corrupted Revolver | Item-specific use is not stated in the guide; the name appears twice in the chest table. |
| Corrupted Rifle | Item-specific use is not stated in the guide. |
| Corrupted Shotgun | Item-specific use is not stated in the guide. |
| Corrupted Throwing Axe | Item-specific use is not stated in the guide. |
The wiki identifies itself as unofficial and fan-made on its home page. Its corrupted-item descriptions are incomplete. A Fandom search result also reports five types, but the page could not be accessed directly, so it does not settle whether this list is complete or clarify the naming discrepancy.
How do you get corrupted items?
- Activate Hard Mode in 99 Nights in the Forest.
- Obtain a Corrupted Chest. The community chest guide says it resembles a Ruby Chest and is obtained by activating Hard Mode.
- Open the chest for a chance to receive corrupted items; the guide does not state drop probabilities.
The guide does not explain the exact Hard Mode activation procedure, so there is no verified vote sequence, timing, or lobby path to provide here.

What happens when a corrupted item’s bar fills?
The chest guide reports that corrupted items have a corruption bar. When it fills, the item destroys itself and corruption rises by 25%. The guide does not specify what causes the bar to fill, how quickly it rises, or whether the behavior varies by item. This is the wiki’s reported mechanic, not an independently verified or developer-confirmed description.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How complete is the item information?
The current community guide supports the Hard Mode-to-Corrupted Chest route and the names listed above, but it does not provide a reliable item-by-item comparison. Beyond its tentative note about the Corrupted Axe, the guide labels uses as unknown. It gives no substantiated damage, durability, drop-rate, or power figures, so those details should not be inferred from the item names.
