Hytale’s crafting system uses an upgradeable Workbench plus specialized stations for tasks such as building, farming, armor, furniture, salvage, alchemy, and arcane gear. A Furnace is a separate processing station. The list below reflects a secondary guide updated January 14, 2026, not a guaranteed current total: Hytale is in Early Access, and later updates have changed bench tiers and recipes. Check requirements in your current game.
Hytale workbenches at a glance
This functional overview follows Dot Esports’ January 14, 2026 guide. It is useful for identifying each station’s main purpose, but its eight-workbench list should not be treated as an official, permanently complete inventory.
| Station | Main use |
|---|---|
| Workbench | Starter crafting and progression toward the Builder’s Workbench. |
| Builder’s Workbench | General building and crafting other workbenches. |
| Farmer’s Workbench | Farming tools and items. |
| Armorer’s Workbench | Armor sets and defensive gear. |
| Furniture Workbench | Décor for bases, villages, and interiors. |
| Salvager’s Workbench | Dismantling gear to recover materials. |
| Alchemist’s Workbench | Potions and alchemical items. |
| Arcanist’s Workbench | Late-game magic and arcane gear. |
These descriptions are orientation, not a full recipe list. Unlock materials, tier requirements, and available crafts can differ as the game updates.
What each workbench is for
Workbench
The basic Workbench is the starting point for crafting and leads into the Builder’s Workbench progression.
#1 Best Overall
- Polished core systems
- Exploration
- Flexible combat
- Robust building
Builder’s Workbench
Use it for general building tasks and to make other workbenches. Later official patch notes also list building options such as half slabs and stairs made from full rock, wood, and metal blocks.
Farmer’s Workbench
This station supports farming tools and items. Official Update 4 lists Copper and Iron Sickles among its additions, and also records the removal of Farmer’s Workbench tiers 9 and 10. The update’s notes use “Farming Workbench” in a recipe-change entry; check the current in-game station name and recipe requirements.
Rank #2
Armorer’s Workbench
This is the station associated with armor sets and defensive gear.
Furniture Workbench
Use it to make furniture and decorative pieces for bases, villages, and interiors.

Salvager’s Workbench
The Salvager’s Workbench dismantles gear for recovered materials. Update 4 also added the ability to salvage certain plants into petals, illustrating that its recipes can extend beyond equipment.
Alchemist’s Workbench
This station is for potions and other alchemical items. Update 4 added Alchemist’s Bench tiers 3, 4, and 5, as well as empty potion bottles and specific crop seeds and fertilizer. Those examples describe that update, not a complete current recipe inventory.

Arcanist’s Workbench
The Arcanist’s Workbench is associated with late-game magic and arcane gear.
Furnace and other processing stations
The Furnace is separate from the eight-workbench list above. Official Update 3 documents a Tier 2 Furnace, establishing it as a tiered processing station rather than another workbench in that dated guide’s count. Official notes also refer to a Drying Rack in crafting contexts, but the cited pages do not provide a complete official inventory of processing stations.

That distinction matters: benches are commonly described by the categories of items they craft, while a processing station such as the Furnace handles a distinct processing role. The available sources do not establish a comprehensive current comparison of processing times or all station recipes.

Hytale’s January 2026 Early Access announcement describes workbench upgrades, nearby-storage interaction, and specialized stations, including stations for building. The game’s crafting setup is therefore more than a fixed menu of recipes: tiers and station capabilities can change how crafting works.
In Update 1, Hytale specified that crafting benches could pull materials from chests within 14 blocks horizontally and 6 blocks vertically. Those are the distances stated for Update 1; later patches could revise them.
Hytale Docs’ technical reference for the CraftingBench asset shows fields for tier levels, upgrade requirements, crafting-time reduction modifiers, and additional input and output slots. This explains how bench definitions can support tiers and capacity differences, but it is not a player-facing catalog of every station or recipe.

Update 3 documented a Tier 2 Furnace and a change to the Farming Bench requirement for a Chicken Coop. Update 4 added Alchemist’s Bench tiers, removed two Farmer’s Workbench tiers, introduced queue-count and item-rarity displays, and changed recipes across multiple benches.
Quick Recap
How to choose which station to build next
- Start with the Workbench. Use it as your initial crafting station and progression route toward the Builder’s Workbench.
- Match the station to the job. Choose a Farmer’s Workbench for farming, an Armorer’s Workbench for defensive gear, a Furniture Workbench for décor, a Salvager’s Workbench for dismantling, an Alchemist’s Workbench for potions, or an Arcanist’s Workbench for arcane equipment.
- Check the recipe and tier in your game. The available sources do not establish a complete, current materials-and-unlock matrix for all stations, and official updates have changed tiers and requirements.
- Use processing stations for their separate role. Treat the Furnace as a processing station rather than assuming it belongs in the dated eight-workbench list.
- Check nearby storage behavior against the current version. Update 1 published the 14-block horizontal and 6-block vertical chest-access distances; do not assume those values are unchanged in a later build.
