The Cresselia ex Drop Event ran from February 3 to 17, 2025, and paired Psychic-type solo-battle opponents with a reward pack containing five promo cards. Darkness-type decks were the broad counter; Sleep effects and low-rarity cards mattered for specific tasks. The event’s current availability has not been confirmed, so the strategies below describe that 2025 run rather than today’s metagame.

When did the Cresselia ex Drop Event run?

Serebii lists the event dates as February 3–17, 2025. It featured Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Expert solo battles, with first-clear rewards, possible random drops, and battle tasks that awarded additional items. The available sources do not confirm whether the event has returned or whether its promo cards later became available through another route. Serebii’s event reference records the run dates and battle details.

Which cards were in Promo Pack A Series Vol. 4?

Pokémon Zone lists five cards in the event’s featured reward pack. It describes Misdreavus as exclusive to the event and the other listed non-Cresselia cards as alternate-art versions of cards from Space-Time Smackdown. Pokémon Zone’s event guide reports these pack odds; its opened page does not state a publication year, and the official announcement does not independently confirm the percentages.

Card Reported chance
Cresselia ex 12.66% (Pokémon Zone; year not stated)
Electivire 15.82% (Pokémon Zone; year not stated)
Misdreavus 23.84% (Pokémon Zone; year not stated)
Turtwig or Skarmory 23.84% combined (Pokémon Zone; year not stated)

The 23.84% figure applies to Turtwig or Skarmory together; it is not stated as the individual chance for either card. Treat these as guide-reported odds, not figures published by The Pokémon Company.

What were the event tasks and rewards?

Tasks changed by stage and included type, board-state, status, rarity, turn-limit, and win-condition requirements. First-clear rewards listed by event guides included pack hourglasses, shinedust, shop tickets, and player experience, with quantities increasing at higher stages. Pokémon Zone’s reward table reports a 100% chance of one promo pack for Expert; that is a historical guide figure, not a guarantee of a current drop.

  • Beginner: Knock out an opposing Pokémon with a Darkness-type Pokémon and put three Basic Pokémon into play.
  • Intermediate: Score two knockouts with Darkness-type Pokémon, put an opposing Pokémon to sleep, and win by turn 14.
  • Advanced and Expert: Tasks included using Pokémon of one-to-three-diamond rarity, meeting turn limits, winning without the opponent scoring, and reaching cumulative win counts.

For the full stage-specific reference, see Serebii’s event page and Pokémon Zone’s task and reward guide.

What are the best decks for the Cresselia ex Drop Event?

Use Darkness-type attackers as the general counter

The official event announcement recommends preparing Darkness-type Pokémon against Psychic-type opponents. That advice also aligns with the early tasks requiring Darkness-type knockouts. Build around the Darkness attackers you actually own, and include enough Basic Pokémon to meet the Beginner board requirement. The recommendation comes from The Pokémon Company’s event announcement.

Add Sleep for the Intermediate task

If you are pursuing the sleep objective, include a dependable Sleep effect rather than hoping to complete it incidentally. Pokémon Zone names Darkrai, Flabébé, Hypno, and Jigglypuff/Wigglytuff ex as options from the card pool available to its guide. These are historical suggestions, not a universal ranking; your collection determines which is practical.

Choose low-rarity cards for rarity-restricted tasks

Pokémon Zone lists Greninja, Blaine, Koga, Brock, Skarmory, and Arbok as possible lower-rarity archetypes for the rarity task. They are candidates, not a ranked competitive tier list. Check that every Pokémon meets the task’s rarity restriction before entering.

Approach Advanced and Expert as separate challenges

The event guides treat rarity, turn-limit, and no-points objectives as distinct goals rather than assuming one deck must clear every task in a single battle. Pokémon TCG Pocket Guides recommends a tank-and-heal approach for Advanced and a faster damage option against Expert, where the opposing deck can repeatedly heal Cresselia ex. These are guide recommendations, not claims of independent testing. See the Pokémon TCG Pocket Guides strategy guide, updated February 3, 2025.

How to beat the event decks efficiently

Use a task-focused plan instead of forcing every condition into one list. The right deck depends on the objective you are attempting and the cards available in your collection.

  1. Read the task before building. Separate type knockouts, Sleep, rarity, turn limit, and opponent-score requirements; a deck suited to one may undermine another.
  2. Start with a Darkness core. It matches the Psychic-type matchup and helps with the early knockout objectives.
  3. Add only the task-specific pieces. Include a Sleep effect for the Intermediate Sleep task, or verify low rarity for a restricted challenge.
  4. Prioritize speed when the turn limit is the obstacle. Against Expert, the guide’s faster-damage recommendation addresses the opposing deck’s repeated healing of Cresselia ex.
  5. Run separate attempts when objectives conflict. A deck built to survive may be a poor fit for a fast win, while a speed-focused list may not satisfy rarity or score-denial conditions.
