In Black Myth: Wukong, your gourd, drink, and soaks work together: the gourd sets how many times you can sip, the drink determines the healing and how many soak slots are available, and each equipped soak adds an effect. Manage the setup at a Shrine and upgrade gourds or drinks with the Shen Monkey. Collection totals vary by whether a checklist counts Coconut Wine upgrade stages, New Game+ purchases, optional Gauntlet rewards, or DLC items.
How gourds, drinks, and soaks work together
The game’s healing setup has three parts, not one interchangeable set of collectibles:

- Gourd: The flask you sip from; it determines the number of uses available before it must be replenished.
- Drink: The base brew inside the gourd. It determines how healing works and provides a number of slots for soaks.
- Soak: An added effect that activates when you sip. The drink’s available slots limit how many soaks you can equip at once.
At a Shrine, inspect and manage your brew, including adding or removing soaks. The Shen Monkey upgrades gourds with Luojia Fragrant Vines and drinks with Awaken Wine Worms; upgrades can change healing properties or the number of available soak slots. The GameSpot guide and PowerPyx drinks guide describe these linked systems.
Choosing a drink and soak for an encounter
There is no single best combination for every fight. Compare what a drink heals with the soak’s effect, trigger, and any tradeoff, then choose for the encounter you are facing.

- Healing pattern: Decide whether you need more immediate healing, gradual healing, or a mix. Lambbrew, found early in Chapter 2 according to GameSpot, combines immediate and gradual healing.
- Survivability: Gall Gem increases poison resistance; Tender Jade Lotus slightly increases defense. GameSpot identifies Gall Gem as a Shen Monkey encounter reward and Tender Jade Lotus as a random Lotus-gathering reward.
- Resource recovery: Turtle Tear restores mana when you sip at full health, so its condition matters. It is less useful if you usually drink only after taking damage.
- Safer sips or saved charges: Iron Pellet prevents enemy attacks from interrupting gourd use. Bee Mountain Stone can give a chance to sip without consuming a gourd charge.
These are examples, not a complete effect list. The guides’ documented examples show why it is worth matching an effect to a fight rather than treating one setup as universally strongest. See GameSpot’s drinks and soaks guide for the cited examples.
Where to find drinks
Drinks come from different sources, including exploration containers, vendors, and progression rewards. PowerPyx counts nine drink locations in its guide, but that location count should not be confused with every named drink stage: its guide says Coconut Wine is the starting drink, and Awaken Wine Worm upgrades rename it through age stages while increasing healing. Fully upgrading Coconut Wine is not required for the drink collection achievement described in that guide. See the PowerPyx drinks locations guide for its route and scope.
Examples documented by GameSpot include Lambbrew, found early in Chapter 2, and drinks obtained through exploration or vendors. A full item-by-item location and effect table is not established by the consulted guide details here, so use a dedicated location walkthrough for the exact route to a drink you are missing.

Where to find soaks
Soaks may be found in containers, bought from vendors, awarded through encounters or quests, or obtained as random plant-gathering drops. PowerPyx says soaks can be equipped or removed at Shrines. Its examples include Gall Gem as an automatic reward from the Shen Monkey encounter and Iron Pellet as a purchase after completing the Man-in-Stone questline. PowerPyx’s soaks guide describes 26 soaks plus one DLC extra in its stated scope; it also identifies Guanyin’s Willow Leaf as a New Game+ purchase.
Plant drops can be random, so gathering the same plant again does not guarantee the specific soak you want. GameSpot describes Tender Jade Lotus as a random Lotus-gathering reward. For the effects and locations of particular soaks, consult the cited GameSpot guide and PowerPyx list.
Gourd names and collection scope
The community wiki’s named gourd inventory is a useful checklist, but it includes a pre-order bonus, so it is not a universal base-game total. The listed names are:

Drink names and Coconut Wine upgrade stages
The community wiki lists Coconut Wine alongside its named upgrade stages and other drinks. Since the stages are not separate base drinks, a count of names is not the same as a count of separately collectible drinks.
- Coconut Wine and stages: Coconut Wine, 3-Year-Old Coconut Wine, 5-Year-Old Coconut Wine, 10-Year-Old Coconut Wine, 18-Year-Old Coconut Wine, 30-Year-Old Coconut Wine
- Other listed drinks: Monkey Brew, Jade Dew, Lambbrew, Dry Spirit, Pinebrew, Bluebridge Romance, Worryfree Brew, Jade Essence, Sunset of the Nine Skies, Loong Balm, A Thousand Days Inebriation, Sour Wine
The community wiki drinks list supplies these names; for the distinction between starting Coconut Wine, its upgrades, and the drink collection achievement, use the PowerPyx guide.

Soak names and checklist caveats
The community wiki lists the following soaks. Treat the names as an inventory checklist rather than a promise that every entry belongs to the same base-game collection scope:
- Thunderbolt Horn, Celestial Lotus Seeds, Flower Primes, Guanyin’s Willow Leaf, Gall Gem, Steel Ginseng, Tender Jade Lotus
- Goat Skull, Iron Pellet, Laurel Buds, Tiger Relic, Copper Pill, Sweet Ice, Breath of Fire
- Stranded Loong’s Whisker, Turtle Tear, Deathstinger, Purple-Veined Peach Pit, Bee Mountain Stone, Fruit of Dao
- Undying Vine, Double-Combed Rooster Blood, Goji Shoots, Flame Mediator, Slumbering Beetle Husk, Mount Lingtai Seedlings
- Graceful Orchid, Frost-Enduring Chrysanth, Robust Antler
The community wiki soak list and PowerPyx soaks guide differ in how their lists may be read: DLC, New Game+, and optional rewards can affect the total. PowerPyx explicitly calls out a DLC extra and a New Game+ purchase.
Revisiting areas and New Game+
PowerPyx says you can continue from the title screen after the final boss to revisit areas, while starting a New Cycle begins New Game+. These are different choices: revisiting is for continued exploration in the current run; New Game+ starts the next cycle and can change what is available, including the cited Guanyin’s Willow Leaf purchase. For save-state or platform-specific details, check current game guidance rather than assuming every version handles the transition identically. See PowerPyx’s drinks guide.

Why collectible totals differ
Before comparing a checklist with your inventory, check whether it counts:
- Coconut Wine’s age stages as separate drinks or as upgrades to one drink.
- DLC content, including the extra soak identified by PowerPyx.
- New Game+ purchases such as Guanyin’s Willow Leaf.
- Rewards from optional Gauntlets or other optional content.
- Pre-order bonus gourds.
The community wiki provides broader name lists, while the cited PowerPyx guides state narrower counts for their own walkthrough scopes. Those are guide counts, not an independent universal total. For the game’s official description and developer and publisher information, see the Steam listing.
