Battlestate Games announced a Softcore balance pass for Escape from Tarkov on October 8, 2025, after it had been expected to arrive that day. The changes reduce weight-related movement penalties and aim punch, while expanding loot availability, Flea Market access and progression. The announcement is historical—not a newly announced 2026 patch—and does not establish that every setting remains current or applies identically in PvP and PvE.
What changed in the Softcore announcement?
The official Escape from Tarkov English Telegram feed listed the following balance changes on October 8, 2025. The post called them “New Softcore balancing changes.”
Movement and combat
- Less weight-related inertia: the post said inertia would have “significantly less impact with the heavier loads.” It did not give an official percentage in the list.
- Reduced aim punch: the aim punch effect was reduced by 60%, according to the official announcement.
- Higher overweight threshold: the threshold for becoming overweight was increased by 50%.
Loot and equipment
- More valuable-item containers on all locations.
- More duffle bags and stashes on all locations.
- Various container spawns added in marked rooms.
- Higher colored keycard spawn chances in The Lab.
- New dogtag barters for various equipment at trader Loyalty Level 2.
The official list does not quantify the loot increases or keycard chances, name the new barters, or specify which containers were added to marked rooms.
Flea Market and progression
- Flea Market access at player level 10, initially with up to five listings.
- Flea Market listing restrictions removed. The announcement does not itemize which restrictions changed.
- PMC skill leveling speed increased, with adjustments made individually rather than one shared figure.
- Successful-raid experience multiplier increased. The post does not state the new multiplier.
Hardcore Wipe achievements
The announcement also removed the ability to earn the limited Hardcore Wipe achievements. Players tracking those achievements should treat this as an eligibility change in the announced balance pass, not as a change to ordinary raid progression.
