How to activate an Abyss Nexus
- Open the map and travel to a white round question-mark search area.
- Enter the search area and use Guiding Light. PowerPyx lists L1 + R1 on PlayStation, LB + RB on Xbox, and Ctrl + Left Click on PC.
- Follow the revealed clue to the round floor plate.
- Stand on the plate briefly. Once activated, it becomes a blue map marker and can be selected as a fast-travel destination.
A question-mark area is not guaranteed to contain an Abyss Nexus. It may instead hold a Secret Place or Ancient Ruin, which is a separate exploration challenge.
All listed Abyss Nexus locations by region
The numbered labels below preserve the regional naming used by PowerPyx. Numbers are directional guide labels, not necessarily official in-game names; use the guide’s current map image alongside them for exact placement.

Fast-travel discoveries that are not Abyss Nexus
| Discovery | What you do | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Abyss Nexus | Use Guiding Light to find a round plate, then stand on it. | Blue map marker for normal fast travel. |
| Secret Place or Ancient Ruin | Complete the distinct exploration challenge found in some search areas. | A different fast-travel point type; do not mistake it for an Abyss Nexus. |
| Abyss Restoration | Complete a sky-island restoration challenge. | Fast-travel access on sky islands, with skydive traversal toward nearby surface areas. PowerPyx refers to 40 such challenges. |
The fan-made site crimsondesert.app also separates Abyss Nexus, Abyss Cresset, and Ancient Ruin discoveries and offers an Abyss Nexus map filter. It is not affiliated with Pearl Abyss, so treat its map and terminology as third-party assistance.
Patch and map-version cautions
PowerPyx’s March 19, 2026 update note says the day-one patch moved several points in Hernand, Scholastone, Demeniss, and Tashkalp and added a Howling Hill point associated with Greymane Camp. Cached map images can therefore show old positions. If a marker is missing, refresh the map source and check the surrounding search area rather than assuming the Nexus was removed.
All regions are described as explorable from the start. PowerPyx recommends uncovering the map by ringing eight bells and collecting nearby points as you go; that is a routing suggestion, not a stated activation requirement.
Practical route-planning tips
- Activate every plate you pass while clearing a question-mark area; the blue marker remains useful for later quests and resource runs.
- Keep the regional label and number with your notes, because several entries share similar directional names.
- When a search area produces a Secret Place or Ancient Ruin, record that result separately instead of repeatedly searching for a nonexistent Nexus plate.
- Recheck town points after major updates, especially in the regions named in the day-one patch note.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I fast travel directly from every question-mark area?
No. A question-mark search area can contain an Abyss Nexus, a Secret Place, or an Ancient Ruin. Only an activated Nexus plate creates the standard blue map marker described here.

What are the Abyss Nexus controls?
PowerPyx lists L1 + R1 on PlayStation, LB + RB on Xbox, and Ctrl + Left Click on PC for Guiding Light.
Are the 213 listed locations an official total?
No. They are the number of entries displayed in PowerPyx’s regional guide: 52 Hernand, 44 Pailune, 32 Demeniss, 42 Delesyia, and 43 Crimson Desert.
The Bottom Line
For normal surface fast travel, search each white question-mark area, use Guiding Light, and stand on the revealed Abyss Nexus plate. Use the regional labels as a checklist, but verify town and numbered placements against a current map because patches have already moved points.
