In Baldur’s Gate 3, player-accessible fire damage comes from spells, class and special actions, weapons, equipment effects, consumables, and fire surfaces. This guide follows the game’s player-facing Fire index; it is not a list of every fire attack used by enemies. The index excludes features available only to non-player characters, while its broader fire-source category includes entries that are not necessarily usable by a player character. BG3 Wiki’s Fire index and its broader source category provide the underlying lists.
Fire-damage sources at a glance
Fire damage is not limited to casting a fire spell. You can deal it directly, add it to some weapon attacks, trigger it through equipment or consumables, or create a hazardous surface that damages characters over time. The lists below name the Fire index’s player-facing entries, with context where access depends on a character, summon, or granted feature.
- Spells: Deal fire damage directly or create a fire hazard.
- Class actions and special actions: Use class features, granted abilities, or other indexed actions.
- Weapons and equipment: Deal fire damage with certain weapons or add damage to qualifying attacks.
- Consumables and surfaces: Throw or fire an item, ignite the environment, or exploit a fire surface.
Which spells deal fire damage?
The Fire index lists these player-facing spells and granted spell variants:

Which weapons deal fire damage?
The Fire index names Everburn Blade, Flame Blade (weapon), Gold Wyrmling Staff, Hellfire Greataxe, Kurwin’s Cauteriser, Lantern, torches, and other weapon entries. A weapon may deal fire damage as part of its normal attack or through a fire-related property, so check the individual weapon entry for its exact behavior rather than assuming all attacks work alike.

The index labels Azer Warhammer and Scimitar of Cinder inaccessible. They should not be treated as obtainable player gear on the strength of the index alone. The weapon list distinguishes these entries.
Which equipment adds fire damage to attacks?
Examples listed include Exterminator’s Axe, Flawed Helldusk Gloves, Gloves of Cinder and Sizzle, and Helldusk Gloves. Their effects can add fire damage to certain attacks, but they do not necessarily apply to every attack type. Check each item’s effect and trigger conditions before planning a build around a fire-damage rider; the Fire index’s equipment section links the listed items.

Which consumables deal fire damage?
- Arrow of Fire: A fire-damaging ammunition option.
- Alchemist’s Fire: A throwable fire-damaging consumable that can also create a fire surface.
These items can deal damage directly or contribute to the battlefield’s surface hazards. Their exact effects and interactions are listed on the Fire index and Fire (surface) page.
How fire surfaces damage characters and weapons
A fire surface deals 1d4 fire damage per turn. A character who steps into it catches fire and takes fire damage each round. A weapon dipped into the surface gains an additional 1d4 fire damage. The listed Burning condition lasts one turn. Help, a Healing Potion, or becoming Wet can remove it; the surface page also states that Wet makes a character immune to Burning. A fire surface leaves Ash when it burns out, and water exposure turns it into a Steam Cloud for ten turns, according to the same page.

Fire surfaces can come from several sources, including items, spells, actions, and environmental ignition. The surface index lists these item-based sources: Alchemist’s Fire, Arrow of Fire, Concussion Grenade, Flammable Slime Bomb, Runepowder Vial, and Runepowder Barrel. Fire can also alter or ignite the battlefield:
- Igniting Oil, Smokepowder, Grease, Unstable Blood, or Alcohol can create fire.
- Exploding Oil, Smokepowder, or Firewine Barrels can create fire or an explosion.
- Fire can ignite burnable interactive objects such as torches.
- Fire damage turns ice surfaces into water.
- Firewine and Oil Barrels are among the explosive items that can detonate when exposed to fire.

What the broader fire-source category does—and does not—tell you
The broader Sources of Fire damage category contains 150 pages. That is a count of pages in a category, not a count of player-usable abilities or items. It includes individual entries beyond the Fire page’s player-facing sections, so it should not be used as a player build checklist without checking whether a particular entry is obtainable and usable by player characters. The Fire index itself states that actions, spells, and features accessible exclusively to NPCs are not listed.
