Mission goals and achievement requirements
Following Orders is identified by AllThingsHow (2026) as the third campaign mission in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. You play a North Korean soldier searching village homes for a defector. The mission has two 50-Gamerscore Xbox achievements:

The safest approach is to finish every collectible interaction in the first house before starting the interrogation. Those items unlock additional husband dialogue and allow both achievements in one playthrough.

First-house route and the toolbox code
- Open the first room on the right. Search the cupboard and the red toolbox. You can shoot the padlock, or enter the three-digit code 214. Read Note From Your Friend and confiscate the heart medicine.
- Search the bathroom. Cross the hall to the first doorway on the left. Take the MP3 player from the wall cabinet.
- Search the next room. Enter the second door on the left and confiscate the Western novel from its cabinet.
- Finish in the kitchen. Read the Baekseolgi-Tteok Recipe in the left cupboard, then take the rations from the adjacent cabinet.
- Start the interrogation only after these searches. The four contraband items add the extra prompts needed for the clean outcome.
The recipe supplies the toolbox combination: use the quantities for flour, water and raisins, while skipping salt. That produces 2-1-4. Shooting the lock is faster if you do not want to enter the code, but either method opens the same container.
Exact nonviolent interrogation choices for No Harm Done
After the first-house search, speak with the wife in the kitchen. Choose the following options in order:

- Select “Please join your husband.”
- At the next prompt, select “I will not ask again.” She moves to the living room without physical force.
- Speak to the husband and select “Ask about South Korean medicine.” Because you collected the contraband, you can also ask about the rations, MP3 player and novel; those prompts do not invalidate the achievement as long as nobody is threatened or harmed.
- At the second option set, select “Give up the defector. Now.”
The husband then reveals the defector’s location and No Harm Done triggers immediately. Threatening or physically forcing either civilian can prevent the achievement, so avoid those alternatives when pursuing the nonviolent outcome.
Second and third houses: the final notes and hidden cellar
Second house
Follow squadmate Ko through the second house. It contains no notes or contraband, so move through it without detouring for collectibles.

Third house
- In the bedroom, open the cabinet beside the bed and read Note From Your Neighbor. It directs you toward food beneath the kitchen floor.
- Take the key from the top glass cabinet near the window.
- Use the key on the kitchen floor hatch to reveal the hidden woman.
- For the quickest progression, use GRAB twice. The game also permits talking her out or threatening her, but those options are slower and can conflict with a no-harm run.
- Drop into the cellar and read Note From Mom on the wooden shelf.
After reading the cellar note, the counter should display NOTES FOUND: 4/4. If all four contraband items were taken in the first house, No Stone Unturned appears at this point.

Troubleshooting missed collectibles or achievements
- The extra husband prompts are missing: return to the first house’s cabinets and toolbox; one of the four contraband items was not confiscated before the interrogation.
- No Harm Done did not trigger: a threat or physical action was selected. Restarting the mission and using the listed wife and husband choices is the reliable correction.
- The note counter is below 4/4: check the red toolbox for Note From Your Friend, the third-house bedroom cabinet for Note From Your Neighbor, and the cellar shelf for Note From Mom; the fourth note is the recipe in the first-house kitchen cupboard.
- The third-house hatch will not open: take the key from the top glass cabinet near the window before trying the floor hatch.
