Gourmet Egg pets, rarities and hatch chances
The following chances are published database figures from the Grow a Garden Wiki (2025), not independently controlled tests. The percentages total 100%.
| Pet | Rarity | Hatch chance | Core ability | Best use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bagel Bunny | Common | 50% | Every 5–45 seconds, it eats a carrot and increases that carrot’s value by 5×. | Accessible, income-focused farming |
| Pancake Mole | Rare | 38% | Every 10–80 seconds, it digs underground for Sheckles or gear. | Currency and item acquisition |
| Sushi Bear | Mythical | 7% | Every 10–80 seconds, it has a 15% chance to mutate a harvest to Chilled or Frozen. Every 100–670 seconds, it throws sushi to a random pet, restoring 1–50% hunger. | Mutation attempts and reducing pet hunger pressure |
| Spaghetti Sloth | Mythical | 4% | Every 3:20–14:00, it visits a nearby fruit and applies Pasta, Sauce or Meatball. The wiki describes a Spaghetti replacement when all relevant mutations are present. | Fruit mutation setups |
| French Fry Ferret | Prismatic | 1% | Every 20:00–60:32, it raises a random pet’s level by one. | Long-term pet progression |
Ability intervals are listed ranges, so an activation is not guaranteed at the shortest time shown. The French Fry Ferret’s level-up effect cannot be mimicked or refreshed, although other suitable pets can speed it up.
What each Gourmet Egg pet does
Bagel Bunny
Bagel Bunny is the most likely hatch and the simplest economic option. When it eats a carrot, that carrot’s value is multiplied by five. Its 5–45-second interval makes it useful for players who want a straightforward boost rather than a specialized mutation or progression mechanic.

Sushi Bear

Its harvest effect has a 15% chance to apply Chilled or Frozen every 10–80 seconds, while its sushi throw restores 1–50% hunger to a random pet every 100–670 seconds. French Fry Ferret
French Fry Ferret is the rarest documented hatch at 1%. Its level-up effect targets a random pet and takes 20:00–60:32 to activate. Because the level increase cannot be copied or refreshed, this is a progression-focused pet rather than an immediate crop-income tool.

Which Gourmet Egg pet is best?
There is no single best pet for every garden; the strongest choice depends on the result you want.
- Best for pet-level progression: French Fry Ferret, because its unique level-up effect directly advances another pet.
- Best for mutation and support: Sushi Bear, combining Chilled/Frozen mutation attempts with hunger restoration.
- Best for Sheckles and gear: Pancake Mole, which periodically digs up either resource.
- Best accessible income boost: Bagel Bunny, whose 5× carrot-value effect is attached to the 50% outcome.
- Best for a dedicated fruit-mutation plan: Spaghetti Sloth, particularly when Pasta, Sauce and Meatball interactions fit your setup.
These recommendations reflect the guide’s role-based editorial picks, not controlled rankings or guaranteed output. Since hatch odds are fixed per documented table, chasing the 1% French Fry Ferret can require substantially more attempts than targeting Bagel Bunny or Pancake Mole.
