Hades II has six hidden weapon aspects, one for each of Melinoë’s Nocturnal Arms. They are alternate fighting styles—not just small stat boosts—so the right one depends on how you like to attack, position yourself, and use each weapon’s Special or Omega moves. This guide covers what each broadly changes and how to unlock it.
What are the six hidden weapon aspects?
Supergiant Games introduced the hidden aspects in its June 17, 2025, The Unseen Update, describing them as “an all-new fighting style to unlock.” Each belongs to a different weapon:
| Hidden aspect | Weapon | Broad gameplay identity |
|---|---|---|
| Anubis | Witch’s Staff | A more direct area-attack style, with effects tied to defeated enemies. |
| Morrigan | Sister Blades | A multi-part attack sequence built around Crow Cutters and the Blood Triad ritual. |
| Nergal | Moonstone Axe | A more aggressive, berserker-style approach with effects that build during combat. |
| Supay | Umbral Flames | The Devil Sparks moveset, with distinctive Attack, Special, and Omega behavior. |
| Hel | Argent Skull | A rapid-fire style that changes how attacks and Specials work, including tracking behavior. |
| Shiva | Black Coat | A variant centered on its own Special interaction and a destructive upgrade mechanic. |
These are broad descriptions rather than a full move-by-move or rank-by-rank specification. For Anubis in particular, exact attack details are version-sensitive. For all six, check the current game for specific triggers, durations, values, and balance changes. The available Hades II Wiki aspect reference lists 18 aspects and does not cover the full hidden-aspect set.
How to unlock a hidden aspect
The general route reported by GameSpot is to reveal the weapon’s available aspects, raise one of that weapon’s aspects to level five, learn its Waking Phrase from the associated character, then activate it at the Waking Pool. The listed character pairings are:

How to choose which hidden aspect to try
There is no supported objective ranking of the six. Compare them by how they change your moment-to-moment decisions and by whether their demands suit your build and play style:
Rank #2
- Battle beyond the Underworld to vanquish the Titan of Time as the Princess of the Dead in this bewitching sequel to the original rogue-like dungeon crawler. Hades II lets players explore a bigger, deeper mythic world with the full might of Olympus at their call in a story that reacts to their every setback and accomplishment.
- Attack pattern: Consider whether you want direct area attacks, a multi-part sequence, or rapid fire.
- Positioning and range: Think about whether you prefer close engagement, aiming, or managing an area.
- Move emphasis: Check how much the aspect changes the weapon’s Special, Omega, or other actions.
- Setup and execution: Consider how much building, timing, or sequencing its mechanic asks of you.
These comparisons are a practical way to narrow your choice, not a performance ranking. Current sources do not establish a complete numerical comparison across all six.
