Hunters in World of Warcraft Classic: Season of Discovery can find runes across multiple gear slots, either by following their discovery routes or by purchasing them from Rune Brokers. Below is the Hunter rune inventory by slot, plus what to know before choosing an acquisition route. The available guide links each rune to its discovery instructions, but does not provide a verified, complete list of zones, coordinates, and steps here.
Hunter rune list by gear slot
Wowhead’s Hunter guide, updated December 18, 2024, lists these runes by the slot where they are engraved. It handles ring runes on a separate page rather than itemizing them in this Hunter list.

Season of Discovery runes are discoveries found throughout Azeroth. Blizzard describes some as visible in plain sight, others as tucked away, and a few as requiring teamwork. Rune engraving lets players apply and remove abilities while experimenting with builds. Blizzard’s Season of Discovery launch overview explains the system, but is not a rune-by-rune location guide.

Discover or quest for a rune
Follow the individual rune guide linked from the Hunter inventory for the relevant acquisition route. Exact steps can differ by rune and race. The source guide’s user comments mention examples such as a Rustling Bush in Durotar, an elite in the Wetlands associated with Aspect of the Lion, and multi-item steps for Kill Command; these comments are not a reliable basis for universal directions. Check the linked entry for the rune you want rather than treating a comment as a confirmed route.
Buy from a Rune Broker
Wowhead says Season of Discovery class runes and skill books can also be purchased from Rune Brokers in Darnassus, Ironforge, Stormwind, Orgrimmar, Thunder Bluff, and Undercity. This offers an alternative to completing discovery routes. The guide warns that some discoveries and rune-related quests may not function properly if you learn the related rune ability from a vendor item. If you want to complete a particular discovery quest, check its current behavior before buying that rune.

The guide’s displayed coordinates repeat the same coordinate for Darnassus and Ironforge, so they are not reproduced here. Confirm the broker’s exact placement in the relevant city or through the linked broker entry.

- It can: identify the runes in the guide’s Hunter slot inventory and point you toward individual discovery guides.
- It cannot: establish every rune’s precise zone, coordinates, NPC, quest steps, level requirement, phase availability, or race-specific variation from the information listed here.
For access context, Blizzard’s launch overview says Season of Discovery is included for players with an active World of Warcraft subscription through the Battle.net desktop app. Availability and in-game acquisition routes may change, so use the linked individual guide and check the current game when following a specific route.
