Update: October 8, 2026. Cyclops is no longer just a name on a leak list: Marvel Rivals’ official Season 8.5 patch notes say he became playable with the update available June 12, 2026. Captain Marvel, by contrast, appears in leak coverage but is not confirmed as an upcoming playable hero by the official sources checked.
Who are the leaked Marvel Rivals characters?
One dated editorial roundup, PC Gamer’s character guide last updated February 12, 2026, listed these names as leaked characters: Beast, Captain Marvel, Colossus, Cyclops, Hit-Monkey, The Hood, Jia Jing, Jubilee, Locus, MODOK, Nightcrawler, Paste-Pot Pete, Professor X, Rogue, and Valkyrie. That is a reported list, not an official NetEase roster or roadmap. PC Gamer’s character guide
The list is already out of date as an “upcoming” roster because Cyclops subsequently became playable. An August 2026 community thread also discusses leak claims, including Captain Marvel, but user posts are not official confirmation. The sources differ in date and evidence type, so these names should not be treated as equally current or equally substantiated. August 2026 community discussion
Is Cyclops playable in Marvel Rivals?
Yes. The official Version 20260612 Season 8.5 patch notes state, “Cyclops officially arrives on the Marvel Rivals battlefield!” The notes say the update was available June 12, 2026, at 09:00 UTC. Cyclops should therefore be described as officially playable, not as an unreleased leak. Marvel Rivals Version 20260612 Season 8.5 patch notes

Is Captain Marvel coming to Marvel Rivals?
Captain Marvel has appeared in leak-related coverage: she is included in PC Gamer’s February 2026 editorial list and is discussed in an August 2026 community thread. The official news sources checked do not confirm her as playable or announce her as an upcoming character. There is no confirmed release window in these sources, so claims that she is “coming soon” go beyond the available evidence.

Marvel Rivals was announced as a team-based PvP shooter with an evolving roster and seasonal post-launch updates, with heroes and maps planned for seasonal drops. That broad plan explains why players follow roster rumors; it does not validate any individual leak. NetEase Games and Marvel Games’ announcement

A leak list is a dated snapshot, not a promise. PC Gamer’s roundup notes suspected fakeouts and that some earlier leak names later matched released characters; that history does not confirm every name on its list. Likewise, references such as voice lines or datamined material should not be used to infer a release date. An August thread commenter makes that timing caution, but it is community commentary—not an official development rule or confirmation.

How to check whether a leaked character has been confirmed
- Check for an official announcement. Look for a character reveal or patch notes from Marvel Rivals rather than relying on a reposted leak list.
- Check the date and exact claim. A source may report a rumor, discuss a data reference, or confirm that a character is playable; those are different claims.
- Recheck the official news feed. The roster can change, and later announcements can make older “upcoming” lists stale. Marvel Rivals official news
