Five Legendary Pokémon are reported as shiny-eligible in Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension: Latias, Latios, Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion. They appear through Special Scan encounters in Hyperspace Lumiose. Keldeo and Meloetta can also appear in these encounters, but Serebii says they cannot be shiny.
Which Legendaries can be shiny?
Serebii’s shiny Pokémon guide identifies five eligible Legendary species in the DLC’s special Hyperspace Zones. Its Legendary Pokémon guide places them among Special Scan encounters.

Scanned Legendaries that are not shiny-eligible
Keldeo and Meloetta are also listed among the scanned Pokémon, but Serebii explicitly says they cannot appear shiny in these encounters. They are not part of the five-species count.
Where and when to find the Special Scans
These are not ordinary overworld encounters. Serebii’s guide says Special Scan tasks become available after defeating Rayquaza, and describes earning 25,000 points in Hyperspace Lumiose to obtain scans. The scans lead to special Hyperspace Zones where the listed Pokémon can be encountered.

The DLC story has a separate progression prerequisite: Nintendo says you must complete the main story before progressing through the Mega Dimension story content. Mega Dimension was made available on December 9, 2025, according to Nintendo’s support page.
How Sparkling Power affects shiny hunting
Serebii says Mega Dimension donuts can provide Sparkling Power for a Hyperspace excursion. You can target a Pokémon type or choose All types; the five eligible Legendaries are affected by matching-type or All-types Sparkling Power in their special zones.

That is not a promise that a particular Legendary will spawn or become shiny: the boost applies to matching-type shiny encounters, not to a chosen species regardless of whether it appears. No shiny odds for these specific Legendary encounters are established by the cited guides.
Keep the HOME Shiny Volcanion reward separate
Shiny Volcanion is not a sixth Special Scan Legendary in Mega Dimension. The Pokémon Company describes it as a Pokémon HOME Pokédex-completion reward for completing the Lumiose, Mega Evolution, and Hyperspace Pokédexes in HOME. That is a separate reward path, not one of the five Hyperspace encounter species.

Version and Pokédex note
Nintendo’s update history lists version 2.0.2, released March 18, 2026, as the latest update on its support page. Nintendo’s version 2.0.1 notes say that shiny Pokémon obtained before Mega Dimension’s release may not have been registered to the Mega Evolution Pokédex, even if their Mega Stones were obtained after becoming available in the DLC. The note describes a possible registration issue, not a claim that every previously caught shiny is affected.
