There are six Mask Shards to collect in Act 1 of Hollow Knight: Silksong: one sold in Bone Bottom and five hidden or earned in Wormways, Deep Docks, Far Fields, Shellwood, and Weavenest Atla. Four shards form an Ancient Mask and add one mask to Hornet’s maximum health, so all six Act 1 shards make one full extra mask with two shards left over.

Where to find each Mask Shard
Bone Bottom: buy from Pebb
Pebb sells one Mask Shard for 300 Rosaries. It is the only Act 1 shard obtained by purchase rather than exploration or a challenge. Nintendo Life
Wormways: reveal the pool-side room
Enter Wormways from the Mosshome side and continue past the chase sequence. Drop into the pool and strike the wall on the right to open the concealed room. The Hollow Knight Wiki places the pickup behind a breakable wall near the Simple Key door, while Nintendo Life says the route is accessible with Swift Step. Hollow Knight Wiki; Nintendo Life
Deep Docks: clear the combat trial
Return through the passage connecting The Marrow and Deep Docks to reach the trial room. Nintendo Life describes four waves of enemies, with the shard beyond the room. The wiki recommends Cling Grip for this pickup. Hollow Knight Wiki; Nintendo Life

Far Fields: solve the room above the Seamstress
First complete the Seamstress quest to get Drifter’s Cloak. Then use the wind and explosive terrain to reach the upper-left route above the Seamstress’s home. In the room there, a drop-and-explosion puzzle reveals the shard. Hollow Knight Wiki; Nintendo Life
Shellwood: find the upper-right breakable wall
In the tall room associated with Shakra and a Flea, check the upper-right side for a breakable wall. Behind it is a platforming route leading to the shard. Hollow Knight Wiki; Nintendo Life

Weavenest Atla: cross the lava room
From the lower elevator shaft, take the path on the right to reach a lava room. Use downward slashes and pogo movement to cross to the shard. The Hollow Knight Wiki lists Needolin as a requirement for this location. Hollow Knight Wiki; Nintendo Life
Plan your collection around gates and challenges
- Rosaries: Keep 300 Rosaries available if you want to buy Pebb’s Bone Bottom shard.
- Ability and progression gates: Far Fields requires Drifter’s Cloak from the Seamstress quest. The wiki lists Needolin for Weavenest Atla and recommends Cling Grip for Deep Docks.
- Hidden-wall searches: Check for concealed breakable walls in Wormways and Shellwood.
- Execution challenges: Deep Docks is a combat trial, Shellwood is platforming, and Weavenest Atla requires lava traversal.
How many shards are in the full game?
This guide covers the six Act 1 locations, not every Mask Shard in the game. Nintendo Life reports 20 total: 16 available through Act 2 and four exclusive to Act 3.
