There is no single route for collecting Mega Stones in Pokémon Legends: Z-A: depending on the stone, you may need to defeat a Rogue Mega Pokémon, exchange Mega Shards, shop with Poké Dollars, complete a mission or ranked reward, or search a named sector or Hyperspace area. Check the individual stone’s current listing before setting out, since prerequisites, shop stock, DLC scope, and event availability vary.
For a stone-by-stone lookup, use the Serebii Mega Stones reference, which lists acquisition information for individual stones. This guide explains the verified route types, gives examples with sourced requirements, and flags content whose availability may change.
Quick route comparison
| Route | What to check | Verified example |
|---|---|---|
| Rogue Mega battle | Confirm the specific battle awards the stone you need; rewards differ by Pokémon. | Beedrillite after Rogue Mega Beedrill; Absolite after Rogue Mega Absol, as listed by Nintendo Life. |
| Quasartico Inc. Mega Shard Exchange | Check the stone’s shard price and any rank requirement. | Nintendo Life lists Alakazite for 360 Mega Shards at Rank F and Gardevoirite for 240 Mega Shards at Rank C. |
| Stone Emporium | Check the individual price and any story or postgame access requirement. | Nintendo Life lists Gengarite for 50,000 Poké Dollars and Garchompite for 70,000 Poké Dollars. |
| Sector, park, or Hyperspace search | Use the specific stone entry for its named area and prerequisite; do not assume a sector label gives an exact coordinate. | Serebii’s reference includes city sectors, parks, and Hyperspace areas. |
| Mission, ranked reward, or gift | Verify the mission condition or current event status before relying on it. | Serebii lists mission and ranked-reward routes; Mewtwonite X and Y were announced as Mystery Gift rewards beginning December 2, 2025. |

Rogue Mega Pokémon rewards
Some Rogue Mega battles award a Mega Stone, but this is not a universal reward for every battle. Nintendo Life gives Beedrillite after Rogue Mega Beedrill and Absolite after Rogue Mega Absol as examples. Check the individual stone listing before taking on a battle specifically for its reward.

City sectors, missions, and ranked rewards
Stone locations and rewards vary: the Serebii reference includes named city sectors, parks, missions, and ranked battle rewards. Use the entry for the exact stone you want rather than assuming that every stone in a category shares the same unlock conditions. Ranked rewards are especially time-sensitive, and the research checked for this guide does not establish which stone is the live reward on October 7, 2026.
Mewtwonite X and Y: dated gift and mission information
The Pokémon Company announced that Mewtwonite X and Mewtwonite Y could be received through Mystery Gift starting December 2, 2025. Its announcement also says Mewtwo’s extra side mission became available then; the player must complete the main story to play the mission, and claim the stones to access it. Because this is a dated announcement, check the current in-game Mystery Gift and mission status rather than assuming the gifts remain claimable.
See The Pokémon Company’s Mewtwo and Mewtwonite notice for the original availability details.

Mega Dimension DLC locations
Keep Mega Dimension routes separate from base-game locations. Nintendo Support says the DLC is compatible with Pokémon Legends: Z-A and the Switch 2 Edition, and requires a copy of the base game on the system, physical or virtual. Confirm that prerequisite before following a Hyperspace-area listing.

Best Value
- An ambitious new adventure set in Lumiose City awaits in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, coming to Nintendo Switch in late 2025. Explore the city, unravel its secrets and battle Pokémon like never before!
- An urban redevelopment plan is underway in Lumiose City! The goal: to turn it into a place Pokémon and people can truly share. Shortly after arriving, you’ll choose from one of these partner Pokémon to accompany you on your journey – Chikorita, Tepig or Totodile.
- Together, you can explore the streets of this vast city or visit Wild Zones – habitats where you’ll encounter wild Pokémon. To catch them, aim carefully and throw a Poké Ball or take them on with the help of the Pokémon on your team.
- For the first time ever, Trainers and their Pokémon will move around and take action in real time during battles. Pokémon will unleash their moves when their Trainers command them to. In addition to type matchups, there will be new mechanics to consider, such as the precise timing for swapping out your Pokémon or using moves, the different lengths of time moves will take to launch, and how big an area the moves will impact.
- In Lumiose City, Pokémon can go beyond Evolution by undergoing Mega Evolution! When a Trainer’s Key Stone resonates with the Mega Stone held by their Pokémon, the Pokémon will do more than just change shape and size – it will unlock a new level of power, which could turn the tide of battle!
Where can I check a particular stone’s location?
Use the Serebii Mega Stones reference to look up its individual acquisition information. Treat a sector name as an area reference, not an exact street-level coordinate.
Are Mewtwonite X and Y still available as Mystery Gifts?
The Pokémon Company announced their Mystery Gift availability starting December 2, 2025, but that dated notice does not confirm current claim status. Check the in-game Mystery Gift and official event information.
Do I need Mega Dimension to get every Mega Stone?
Base-game and DLC routes should be treated separately. For Hyperspace-area content, Nintendo Support says Mega Dimension requires a copy of Pokémon Legends: Z-A on the system. Check the stone’s listing to determine whether it is DLC content.
Are ranked rewards and shop requirements permanent?
Not necessarily. Ranked rewards, shop requirements, and game content can change. Verify the current in-game details rather than relying on a historical guide entry.
