Some announcements were available within days; others were previews whose later status became clearer during 2025.
What did Minecraft LIVE announce in March 2025?
The March 22 broadcast covered Mojang’s Game Drops plan, the Spring to Life update, a Bedrock event tied to A Minecraft Movie, the Vibrant Visuals graphics update, and an early look at features for a second 2025 drop. The broadcast also included an animated segment from Element Animation and was followed by The Deep Dig, a show revisiting the announcements and demonstrating gameplay.
The official pre-event notice scheduled the English broadcast for 1 p.m. ET on Saturday, March 22, and listed Minecraft.net, YouTube and Twitch as viewing options. Game Drops and two Minecraft LIVE shows a year
Mojang said it would release features more frequently in packages called Game Drops and hold Minecraft LIVE twice a year. The announcement’s message was: “We’re releasing more features more frequently. These releases are called ‘Game Drops’.” The segment was presented by the “Tinies,” miniature animated versions of Mojang Studios’ Vu Bui, Agnes Larsson and Jens “Jeb” Bergensten. Spring to Life: the first 2025 Game Drop
At the broadcast, Mojang announced Spring to Life as the first Game Drop of 2025, with a planned March 25 release. Minecraft’s release article confirms that the update became playable on March 25, 2025. Its additions included:
- Biome-linked farm animals: warm and cold variants of pigs, cows and chickens, alongside sheep coat colors associated with green, sandy and chilly biomes.
- Distinct wolf sounds: seven wolf sound personalities.
- Ambient details: falling leaves, whispers of sand, cactus flowers, wildflowers and firefly bushes.
- Lodestone crafting: a recipe using an iron ingot and chiseled bricks.

A Minecraft Movie event was a limited-time Bedrock promotion
Actor Emma Myers, who played Natalie in A Minecraft Movie, introduced an exclusive clip during the broadcast. The recap said the movie would premiere on April 4, 2025. Mojang also announced a movie-inspired in-game event for Bedrock Edition, scheduled for March 25 through April 7, 2025. Players could take on mini-games and a mission to save Midport village from a piglin attack; completing challenges awarded a cape claimable in both editions when using the same account. Vibrant Visuals: a graphics preview that later arrived on Bedrock
The March broadcast showed Vibrant Visuals as a graphical enhancement featuring sunlight effects, pixelated shadows and improved water effects. At the time, Mojang said it would first come to compatible Bedrock devices in the coming months and that Java support was planned for the future. The later official timeline records a Bedrock release in June 2025. Dried ghast, ghastling and happy ghast preview
Mojang’s second 2025 Game Drop preview began with a dried ghast block found in the Nether. The March recap described bringing it to the Overworld and rehydrating it into a ghastling, which would mature into a friendly happy ghast. With a harness, a happy ghast could carry a rider and up to three friends; players could also build from its back, making high construction more accessible in Survival Mode.

Player Locator bar
The broadcast also previewed the Player Locator bar, a user-interface feature intended to help players find others in their world. Mojang’s recap described its purpose as helping players “find other players in your worlds.” In March 2025, the recap said the feature was already in testing; that is its status at the time of the announcement, not a statement of present availability. What came after the March announcements?
The March show was not the whole 2025 update slate. In its September recap, Minecraft presented The Copper Age and Mounts of Mayhem. The Copper Age was announced for September 30, 2025 and focused on changes to early tool and weapon progression, copper golems and powered shelves.
