In Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, a monster’s carcass can yield one of two items when a character with the Thief-learned Poach Support ability lands the finishing blow. The reference below lists each monster, its common and rare reward, and the encounter location recorded by RPG Site’s October 2, 2025 guide. It is specific to The Ivalice Chronicles; some item names differ from War of the Lions PSP tables.
How to poach monsters
- Learn Poach. A character needs the Poach Support ability learned through the Thief job. The guide says poaching is available starting in Chapter 3.
- Land the final blow. The character with Poach must deal the monster’s killing hit. Its carcass is then added to inventory.
- Check the battle text. The guide describes an icon in battle text that indicates when a carcass will produce the rare result. Each monster has a common and a rare listed reward.

How to target particular monsters
Recruit monsters and breed variants
RPG Site recommends recruiting monsters with Orator’s Entice Active ability or Tame Support ability. Recruited monsters lay eggs as the party walks on the world map, and a monster family can breed across palette variants; the guide gives Chocobo, Black Chocobo, and Red Chocobo as an example. Wild Boar is listed as breeding-only in its table.
Retry a battle when the desired carcass does not appear
For a random battle containing the monster you want, the guide recommends saving beforehand with a Poach user in the party. If the desired carcass does not drop, flee and try again.

What counts for the Rare Wares achievement?
RPG Site describes Rare Wares as an achievement on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox for producing ten different qualifying items at the Poacher’s Den—items that cannot be purchased from outfitters. The achievement is not limited to items from rare carcass results: the guide notes that some qualifying items come from common carcasses. Check the qualifying item set rather than treating the “rare” column as the achievement checklist.

This table follows RPG Site’s The Ivalice Chronicles guide, published October 2, 2025. The guide says it used existing War of the Lions PSP tables as assistance and notes that some item names changed. Treat the listed names as edition-specific, and check your in-game terminology if a patch or localization differs. Square Enix describes The Ivalice Chronicles as including an enhanced version and a classic version; the classic version brings together the original 1997 graphics and gameplay with the War of the Lions translation. Square Enix’s official game page also describes the enhanced version’s improved graphics, voiced dialogue, refined gameplay, and Squire difficulty setting.
