Prickly is an in-game crop trait in Grow a Garden, not a label you can determine reliably from a plant’s appearance. As of August 10, 2026, the latest matching database reports 46 released Prickly crops, but public lists do not agree perfectly. The Fandom category also shows 46 entries while including Cyberflare, which another current list identifies as unreleased, and omitting crops such as Asteris.
Use the Garden Guide as the final authority: open Guide or Garden Guide → Plants, search for Prickly, and open each result to check its traits and acquisition information. The table below is a dated research baseline covering the 46-crop list reported by the latest matching guide, with disputed, limited, and unreleased entries clearly separated.
How to find Prickly plants in Grow a Garden
- Open Guide or Garden Guide from the game interface.
- Go to the Plants section.
- Enter Prickly in the search field.
- Open an individual crop entry to check its rarity, trait list, collection status, and acquisition information.
The exact button or menu location can vary by platform and update. The Garden Guide was introduced with the Beanstalk update as a broader index for plants, pets, cosmetics, collections, and item information. It was later moved into the user interface during update 1.22.1, so older walkthroughs may show a different access path. See the Garden Guide page and the 1.19.0 update notes if your menus do not match.
If a crop is missing when you search for Prickly, do not assume that a third-party list is more accurate. First check that you are on the current server version, then confirm the crop’s event or shop status.

What counts as a Prickly plant?
Prickly is a game classification. It may describe thorns, spikes, spiny fruit, a carnivorous structure, or an internal tag that is not obvious from the model. Visual inspection alone is therefore not a dependable way to identify a crop for a quest or event.
Traits can overlap. For example, Rose is listed as Prickly as well as Flower and Leafy. Asteris is reported as having 17 traits, including Prickly. The GameSpot trait guide gives examples of this multi-category system. Always open the crop’s Garden Guide entry instead of assuming that a crop belongs to only one type.
All reported Prickly plants
The following 46-row roster follows the latest matching acquisition guide, updated August 7, 2026. It is a research snapshot, not a permanent or live-verified list. Routes, prices, pack odds, and shop availability can change after an update. Acquisition details are based primarily on the matching Prickly plants guide.
Status key: Check live source means the route may be recurring but needs confirmation in your current shop, pack, chest, or station. Past or limited means the reported source was tied to an event, season, rotation, or reward window. Promotional means merchandise or a code is involved. None of these labels means a crop can never return.

| Venus Fly Trap | Divine | Basic Seed Pack; reported 0.01% chance. | Extremely rare pack route. |

How to read the figures: All prices and percentages in this table are reported values from the research baseline, not guaranteed current values. A shop price, pack composition, or drop rate may change. The latest guide also appears to contain a Horned Melon/Horned Redrose image or row-label mismatch, so verify those two entries in the Garden Guide before relying on the pack information.
The easiest Prickly plants to pursue first
There is no single best Prickly crop for every purpose. For most players, the best first target is an accessible crop rather than the highest-rarity entry.
1. Check Cactus, Dragon Fruit, and Pineapple in the Seed Shop
These are the most practical first checks because the matching guide associates all three with the regular Seed Shop. That does not mean they are guaranteed to be stocked every time you visit. Check the live shop, note the current price, and avoid treating the reported prices in the table as permanent.
- Cactus: reported as Mythical and listed at 15,000 Sheckles or 497 Robux.
- Dragon Fruit: reported as Mythical and listed at 50,000 Sheckles or 597 Robux.
- Pineapple: reported as Mythical and listed at 7,500 Sheckles or 475 Robux.
If one appears, it is usually a more actionable target than a crop tied to a finished event, an extremely rare chest, or a limited promotional code. Confirm that the current request or event accepts the crop before spending currency.

- Best Choice of Gift Item: These succulent plants are durable and adorable. The perfect gift for housewarming parties, holidays, birthdays, and special occasions.
2. Look for Rose in Flower Seed Packs
Rose is reported as Uncommon with a 40% Flower Seed Pack chance. It is especially useful when a mechanic asks for more than one trait because it is listed as Prickly, Flower, and Leafy. Its lower rarity does not make it useless; an obtainable, multi-trait crop can be more convenient than a Divine or Transcendent crop that is currently unavailable.
3. Check Zenith Packs for Horned Redrose
Horned Redrose is reported as Common with a 40% Zenith Seed Pack chance. It is a reasonable pack-based option if you already have Zenith Packs, but it is not a regular Seed Shop purchase. Confirm the name and pack association in your current Guide because the latest matching article appears to have swapped image labels involving Horned Melon and Horned Redrose.
4. Check the Honey Hive route for Stingpetal
Stingpetal is reported as an Uncommon crop from the Honey Hive Seed Pack with a 40% chance, associated with the Bizzy Bee 2026 content. It can be a practical target when that pack or event system is active. If the pack is no longer available, the crop becomes a collection target rather than a quick solution.
5. Treat crafting as conditional, not automatically easy
Aloe Vera and Nectar Thorn have reported crafting recipes, while Shadow Spine is associated with a Crafting Station. Crafting may be faster than waiting for a rare pack only if you already have the required materials and the station or recipe remains active.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches- Aloe Vera: Peace Lily Seed, Prickly Pear, and 18 Summer Coins.
- Nectar Thorn: 2 Cactus, 1 Cactus Seed, 1 Nectarshade Seed, and 20 Honey.
- Shadow Spine: use the current Crafting Station recipe; the available research does not establish a permanent recipe.
Because the Aloe Vera recipe depends on Prickly Pear, it may not be a practical first route if Prickly Pear is no longer sold or obtainable in the current rotation.
Limited, past-source, promotional, and currently unavailable crops
“Released” and “obtainable now” are different categories. The following crops have reported routes that depend on a past event, a seasonal merchant, a rare reward, a limited shop, or a promotion:
Past events and seasonal content
- Celestiberry — Night Event.
- Freedom Flare — July 4, 2026 shop.
- Frostspike — Frozen Ice King weather or event.
- Gummy Cactus — Easter Event 2026.
- Monster Flower — Halloween Merchant.
- Poison Apple — Spooky Seeds Shop.
- Speargrass — Fall Seed Pack.
- Spiked Mango — Zen Event, previously sold for 75 Chi.
- Sugar Snapdragon — Easter Event 2026.
These are not necessarily gone forever. Seasonal shops, merchants, reward tracks, and events can return or be replaced by another acquisition route.
Limited shops and rare rewards
- Firefly Spiral, Firework Fern, Pollenvine, Trinity Fruit, and Twisted Tangle — limited Seed Shop routes.
- Pricklefruit — Rat Connoisseur reward.
- Severed Spine — Harvest Reaper reward.
- Spiketail and Stinger Reed — Wasp-related rewards.
- Royal Rose — Wasp King Golden Chest.
- Swivel Stinger — Wasp Wave Chest, reported guaranteed at Wave 100.
- Crown of Thorns — Skyroot Chest.
- Pyracantha — Enchanted Chest.
For these crops, checking the relevant NPC, chest, wave reward, merchant, or limited shop is more useful than repeatedly refreshing the normal Seed Shop.

Promotional crops
Blooming Cactus and Frost Fern are associated with eligible Grow a Garden PhatMojo merchandise. A player may need the qualifying product, redemption method, and a valid code. Do not assume that owning a normal in-game seed or visiting the Seed Shop will provide either crop.
Unreleased or data-mined entries
Cyberflare and Jungle Kiwano are reported as Prickly in game data or public references but unreleased in the current matching guide. Keep them out of an obtainable list unless they appear in your live Garden Guide with an active acquisition method. Cyberflare is the clearest example of why a public category count should not automatically be treated as a list of live crops.
Important list conflicts: Asteris and Devilroot
Two crops deserve separate treatment because they appear to be omitted or inconsistently classified by public lists:
- Asteris: its individual page explicitly describes it as Prickly and reports a Gem Chest route with a 1% chance. The Garden Guide page is also reported to include Asteris, but it is absent from the latest 46-row article and the public Prickly category result. Search for it directly in your live Garden Guide before counting it.
- Devilroot: its individual page reports a 14.5% Spooky Chest chance, and the matching article mentions Devilroot in its introduction but leaves it out of the 46-row table. Confirm its Prickly tag directly in-game.
These conflicts are why this guide does not silently inflate the headline count. If the current Garden Guide returns Asteris or Devilroot for a Prickly search, they should be treated as live additions to your version’s roster even if an older article does not list them.

Which Prickly plant is best for events?
The answer depends on what “best” means. A high-rarity crop may be valuable for collection progress or an event that awards more points for rare produce, but it may also require a discontinued event, an expensive shop purchase, or an extremely lucky pack opening.
| Goal | What to prioritize |
|---|---|
| Help a new player | A crop currently visible in the Seed Shop, especially Cactus, Dragon Fruit, or Pineapple if the live shop confirms the route. |
| Complete the collection | Every source type: regular shop, packs, chests, crafting, merchants, event rewards, and promotional routes. Track limited crops separately. |
| Prepare for a short event | An obtainable seed you can plant immediately, not a theoretically stronger crop locked behind a past event. |
| Maximize event points | Follow the event’s current rarity, mutation, weight, and submission rules. Do not assume old Beanstalk values still apply. |
| Cover multiple traits | Use a crop whose Garden Guide entry lists several requested traits, such as Rose. |
| Maximize crop value | Compare the current crop value, growth time, harvest behavior, and availability separately from its Prickly classification. |
Rarity alone is not enough. A rare crop can be single-harvest, slow, expensive, or unobtainable. An accessible crop that can be planted and harvested during the event window may produce a better practical result.
Beanstalk Event history: when Prickly mattered directly
The major historical use of crop categories such as Prickly was the Beanstalk Event, which ran from August 16 through August 30, 2025. Players submitted crops matching Jack’s requested types to grow the Beanstalk and earn progression and rewards.
The event used rarity-based contribution points and awarded bonus points for Silver, Gold, and Rainbow mutations. Those were rules of the 2025 Beanstalk Event, not permanent values attached to every Prickly crop. The Beanstalk Event reference is useful for the historical mechanics, but it should not be used to assume that a current event accepts every Prickly crop or awards the same number of points.

- INCLUDED IN PURCHASE | (5) assorted cactus varieties in 2" pot. Each plant may vary from pictures shown as succulents are hand selected based on season, size, health, and readiness.
- WATERING NEEDS | Cacti are very sensitive to overwatering and damp soil can cause root rot. Dry out soil completely between waterings. Recommended amount is once every two weeks. Tip: top inch of soil should feel dry before watering again.
- FERTILIZING NEEDS | Fertilize every two to four weeks during spring and summer. Withhold fertilizer during the fall and winter months.
- SOIL | SUN | POTTING | Use well-draining soil. Regular potting soil or dirt will not work. Use cactus soil/mix or potting soil with sand/pumice/perlite. Approximately 6 hours of sun per day. Gradually give plant more sunlight each day.
- CUSTOMER ASSURANCE | We strive to provide the highest quality plants delivered. If plants arrive damaged or unhealthy, we will issue a full refund or replace your plant.
Prickly can still matter in later quests, crop-type events, crafting recipes, NPC requests, and pet abilities. Always read the current event or NPC requirement, especially if it also specifies rarity, mutation, minimum weight, or a particular crop name.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Pets that interact with Prickly crops
The Hedgehog and Blood Hedgehog are specifically documented as interacting with Prickly crops. The available source material confirms the interaction but does not establish a current numerical bonus that should be quoted as permanent. Check each pet’s live ability text before building a farming setup around it.
A pet effect does not automatically make every rare Prickly crop worthwhile. Compare the pet’s current bonus with the crop’s availability, harvest behavior, and the rules of the activity you are preparing for.
Why a visibly spiky crop may not count
If an event, quest, or NPC rejects a crop that looks prickly, work through this checklist:
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Confirm the trait: search the exact crop name in the Garden Guide and verify that Prickly appears in its trait list.
- Submit produce, not a seed: many requests require the harvested crop rather than the seed item.
- Check the full requirement: the request may require a specific rarity, mutation, minimum weight, or crop name in addition to Prickly.
- Check the current event: a crop accepted by the Beanstalk Event may not be accepted by a later event with narrower rules.
- Check the version: if the Guide and an NPC disagree, note the game version and date. An update may have changed the category or the request.
- Refresh the server: rejoin or switch servers if a limited shop, merchant, or event UI appears stale.
Do not use the plant’s appearance, a search snippet, or an old list as the final test. The Guide’s current trait entry and the active mechanic’s instructions are more reliable.
Why different websites give different totals
Older guides report 15, 17, 25, or 38 Prickly crops because they captured earlier points in the game’s update cycle. For historical comparison, see the older lists from Games.gg, GameSpot, and Dexerto.
There are four separate questions hidden inside the word all:
- How many crops are tagged Prickly in the current live Guide?
- How many have been released at some point?
- How many are obtainable in the current shop, event, pack, or reward system?
- How many known data entries are unreleased?
A database may answer one question while a player is asking another. A released crop can be temporarily unobtainable, and an unreleased data entry can appear in a public category without being usable in the game.

Recommended way to keep your own list current
- Search Prickly in the Garden Guide after each major update.
- Record the crop name, displayed rarity, and all listed traits.
- Open the acquisition information and note whether it points to a shop, pack, chest, NPC, event, crafting station, or promotion.
- Mark the route as available now, rotating, seasonal, past, or unreleased.
- Record the date and game version rather than treating a price or drop rate as permanent.
- For a quest or event, test one harvested crop before spending rare seeds or currency on a large batch.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many Prickly plants are there in Grow a Garden?
The latest matching public guide reports 46 released Prickly crops as of its August 7, 2026 update, but public sources disagree. The Fandom category also reports 46 entries while including Cyberflare, which another source calls unreleased, and omitting entries such as Asteris. Search Prickly in the current Garden Guide for the authoritative count on your version.
What is the easiest Prickly plant to get?
Start by checking the regular Seed Shop for Cactus, Dragon Fruit, or Pineapple. Rose from a Flower Seed Pack, Horned Redrose from a Zenith Seed Pack, and Stingpetal from a Honey Hive Seed Pack may also be practical if those packs are currently available. Shop stock and pack availability rotate, so none should be described as permanently guaranteed.
Is Asteris a Prickly plant?
Asteris is explicitly described as Prickly on its individual reference page and is reported to be obtainable from the Gem Chest at a 1% chance. However, it is missing from some current public Prickly lists. Confirm that the live Garden Guide returns Asteris when you search for Prickly.
Is Cyberflare released?
Cyberflare appears in the public Prickly category, but the latest matching guide identifies it as unreleased. Treat it as a data or classification note, not an obtainable crop, unless it appears in the live Garden Guide with an active acquisition route.
Can Prickly Pear still be obtained?
Prickly Pear was previously reported as a Seed Shop crop costing 555,000 Sheckles or 599 Robux. Its current status is best treated as past or rotating until the live shop, an event, or another active source confirms it. It may also be needed for the reported Aloe Vera crafting recipe.
Do all Prickly plants give the same event points?
No. The historical Beanstalk Event used rarity-based contribution points and mutation bonuses, so crops did not all contribute identically. Those rules applied to the August 16–30, 2025 event and should not be assumed to apply to current events.
Which pets affect Prickly crops?
Hedgehog and Blood Hedgehog are documented as interacting with Prickly crops. Check their current in-game ability descriptions for the exact effect; the available research does not establish a permanent numerical bonus.
Why does a visibly spiky crop not count as Prickly?
Prickly is an internal game trait, not a visual test. Search the exact crop in the Garden Guide, confirm that Prickly appears in its trait list, and check whether the active quest also requires a mutation, rarity, minimum weight, or a specific harvested crop.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Are Prickly crops always fruits?
No. Prickly is a gameplay classification and can apply to crops with different names and forms, including flowers, ferns, vines, and carnivorous plants. The public category may call them fruits, but the Garden Guide’s trait list is the important reference.
Can one crop count for multiple categories?
Yes. Rose is reported as Prickly, Flower, and Leafy, and Asteris is reported to have 17 traits including Prickly. Check the full trait list when an event or quest asks for several crop types.
The Bottom Line
For the fastest route, search Prickly in Garden Guide → Plants, then check the live Seed Shop for Cactus, Dragon Fruit, or Pineapple. Use packs, crafting, chests, merchants, and event rewards for the rest of the roster, but separate currently obtainable crops from past and promotional entries. Because Grow a Garden adds crops frequently, the in-game Guide—not an old fixed list—is the final authority.
