Slitterhead has eight confirmed Rarities: Julee, Alex, Anita, Edo, Doni, Tri, Blake, and Betty. These are people whose strong synchronization with Hyoki unlocks more powerful attacks and character-specific abilities. The examples below explain how the skill system works and identify documented abilities, but they are not a complete skill list for every character.
What are Rarities in Slitterhead?
Hyoki has no physical form and survives by possessing and controlling human bodies. Rarities are humans with a particularly strong synchronization with Hyoki. Bokeh Game Studio says that possessing them lets Hyoki unleash stronger attacks and activate abilities: the studio’s official game page.
Ordinary hosts are fragile, so taking over another body is also a survival tactic. Rarities offer stronger combat options, while switching among nearby people can help Hyoki evade danger or keep a fight going.
How Rarity skills work
Active and passive skills
Active skills are triggered by the skill button; passive skills provide an effect while held. Active abilities may consume blood (HP) or spirit power. Some Rarity active abilities can also be carried into ordinary hosts as Common Skills. Which Rarities and carried skills are available depends on mission selection, and some missions require particular Rarities. These mechanics are described in coverage of the game’s ability announcement.

Skill progression
Skill Tokens can enhance skills, and strengthening skills can unlock additional ones. Because the system includes offensive, defensive, recovery, and support effects, progression choices can shape how you approach combat. The Epic Games guide to surviving Slitterhead highlights Rarity-specific combat styles, including Julee’s healing and Empower passive.

Documented ability examples
The following named skills are documented examples, not an exhaustive catalogue. In the descriptions below, “active” means the player triggers the ability; “common” identifies an ability that can be used in an ordinary host.
| Rarity | Skill and type | Documented effect |
|---|---|---|
| Julee | Revive All (Active) | Replenishes Julee’s blood over time, heals nearby humans, and immediately revives humans close to death. |
| Julee | Sonic Claws (Active) | Charges and releases a forward-moving shockwave formed from blood claws. |
| Julee | Blood Ripper (Common) | Throws a small blood blade that damages and slows enemies; the announcement description notes its usefulness in pursuits. |
| Alex | Bloody Blast (Active) | Fires blood bullets from a shotgun; charging increases the attack’s power and range. |
| Blake | Bloody Shot (Active) | Forms a blood machine gun for sustained fire at a substantial blood-level cost. |
| Blake | Bloody Mine (Active) | Turns blood pools in an area into mines, which detonate for critical damage when enemies step on them. |
The descriptions establish different uses—healing and support, pursuit control, ranged damage, sustained fire, and area traps—but do not provide a complete, directly comparable skill tree or enough information to rank every Rarity. Resource costs are specified only where noted above; the cited ability descriptions do not establish costs for the other examples.

Switching bodies is central to survival, not just a way to access a Rarity. Ordinary humans can be overwhelmed, so moving into another host can help Hyoki escape danger and continue fighting. Rarities bring stronger abilities, while the people around them remain part of the combat system. Slitterhead is a single-player game, according to its PlayStation Store listing.
