It offered five Promo-A cards through Solo Battles against themed CPU decks. For the event’s knockout missions, published guidance points to Lightning decks; for the Advanced and Expert low-rarity mission, Volkner and Single Point Lightning are the suggested options. These are historical event details, not confirmation of a current reissue.
Event dates and how it worked
Serebii lists the Rayquaza ex Drop Event as running April 30–May 13, 2025, and categorizes it among earlier events rather than current drops. Players faced themed CPU decks in four Solo Battle stages: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Expert. Clearing stages offered one-time rewards, while victories could also yield Promo Pack A Series Vol. 7. Serebii’s event listing says Expert victories guaranteed a pack; earlier-stage pack drops were chance-based, according to Pokémon Zone. Serebii’s event listing · Pokémon Zone’s event guide
All five promo cards
Promo Pack A Series Vol. 7 contained five digital Pokémon TCG Pocket event cards. The promo numbers and card names are:
| Promo-A number | Card |
|---|---|
| 60 | Exeggcute |
| 61 | Froakie |
| 62 | Farfetch’d |
| 63 | Rayquaza |
| 64 | Rayquaza ex |
Serebii lists Rayquaza ex at 140 HP. Pokémon Zone identifies it as the pack’s featured card. These are Pocket rewards, not evidence of a matching physical card product. Serebii · Pokémon Zone

Best decks for the event’s missions
Pokémon Zone describes the CPU decks as built around Water Pokémon, with Rayquaza as their strongest Pokémon, and recommends Lightning archetypes. It names Pikachu ex, Volkner, Pikachu ex Shining Revelry, and Single Point Lightning. This is published guidance, not a tested ranking: the source provides no controlled win-rate comparison. Choose among them based on the task you need to complete and the cards you own.
For Lightning-type knockout missions
Use a deck that can reliably land Lightning-type attacks on the opponent’s Active Pokémon. Pikachu ex and Pikachu ex Shining Revelry are among Pokémon Zone’s recommendations. The task is about the type of attack that scores the knockout, so prioritize access to that attack rather than assuming any Lightning deck will complete it automatically. Rank #2
- 3 Pokemon booster packs from various sets
For Advanced and Expert low-rarity missions
For tasks requiring Pokémon of one-, two-, or three-diamond rarity, Pokémon Zone highlights Volkner and Single Point Lightning because they do not include a Pokémon ex. Check the cards actually in your list against the required rarity before queuing, and avoid alternate-art cards for this task, as the guide cautions that they can cause a deck to fail the restriction. A deck’s archetype name alone does not establish that every card in your build qualifies. Pokémon Zone’s low-rarity guidance
Compare a deck against the specific task
The sources do not publish head-to-head results, so there is no established universal “best” list. Before each battle, check four things:
Rank #3
- You will receive, at random, a Pokémon TCG: First Partner Illustration Collection—Series 3 that will contain 3 of 9 possible Promo Cards featuring beloved first partner Pokémon from the Hoenn, Kalos, or Paldea region.
- You will get 1 Pokémon TCG booster pack containing 3 of 9 promo cards
- This also comes with 2 Pokémon TCG booster packs and a sticker sheet.
- Knockout requirement: Can the deck land Lightning-type attacks to take out the Active Pokémon?
- Rarity restriction: Does every Pokémon comply with the specified diamond rarity, including its art variant?
- Turn limit: Can the deck build pressure quickly enough for the stage’s deadline?
- Point denial: Can it keep the CPU from scoring when that is part of the mission?
Tasks and Expert opponent deck
Across the event stages, tasks included putting Basic or Stage 1 Pokémon into play, winning within a turn limit, winning without letting the opponent score points, and taking a knockout with a Lightning-type attack. Higher stages also included the low-rarity Pokémon restrictions. Serebii lists a turn-14 limit for Advanced and turn 12 for Expert; the exact requirement depends on the task shown for the stage.
Serebii’s Expert CPU list is useful for understanding the opponent, but it is not a recommended player deck:
