Dragon Age: The Veilguard has seven romanceable companions: Lace Harding, Davrin, Bellara Lutara, Taash, Lucanis Dellamorte, Emmrich Volkarin, and Neve Gallus. Build a bond by flirting, supporting a companion, taking them on quests, and giving their in-game gift. You can explore more than one romance at first, but choosing to commit to one ends the chance to romance the others.
How romance works in The Veilguard
EA says any of the seven companions can potentially romance Rook, regardless of Rook’s race, faction, class, or gender. The companions are canonically pansexual. EA’s romance guide recommends choosing flirtatious dialogue, supporting companions when choices arise, joining them on quests, and giving them gifts. Romance progresses at different speeds by character; EA does not publish an approval score or a numerical threshold.
You can begin developing relationships with multiple companions. A single heart means a romance has started but is not permanent. When a companion asks for commitment, accepting changes the icon to a double heart and closes off romance with the others. Declining returns that companion’s status to Friend or Ally.
All seven romance options and how to pursue them
EA’s character-specific advice and gift details are summarized below. Gifts are fictional items bought from in-game faction merchants, not real-world products.

The early city choice that can lock out Lucanis
When the story forces a choice between saving Treviso and choosing Minrathous, choosing Minrathous immediately blocks Lucanis’s romance, according to EA. Saving Treviso may displease Neve, but EA does not say that it necessarily prevents her romance. If you want to pursue Lucanis, choose to save Treviso at this decision.
Romance scene content settings
Nudity is on by default for romance scenes. To turn it off, open Settings > Options > Nudity.

Official announcement
BioWare’s June 11, 2024 announcement described the game as bringing together “a cast of (yes, romanceable!) companions” and listed PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 as planned platforms at that time. Read the announcement on BioWare’s blog.
