You can get keys from Pebb, a Roachkeeper, Jubilana, and a corpse in Sands of Karak; the locks open routes or rewards in the Wormways, Deep Docks, Sinner’s Road, and High Halls. The Deep Docks lock is not required to reach the lower area because there is another route.
Where to find all four Simple Keys
These are the four reported key sources. Prices and some route requirements are not equally certain across guides.

Bone Bottom: buy one from Pebb
Pebb sells a Simple Key in Bone Bottom for 500 Rosaries, according to the community-maintained Hollow Knight Wiki item reference. If you are following an Act 3 guide and missed this key, the same reference lists a fallback purchase from Grindle in Blasted Steps for 600 Rosaries.

Sinner’s Road: defeat the Roachkeeper
Find the Roachkeeper near the northeast, upper part of Sinner’s Road and defeat it to obtain a key. To reach the area, Nintendo Life’s route heads east from the broken bench and climbs through a tall room; PC Gamer’s guide describes approaching from Greymoor above Halfway House.

Songclave: buy one from Jubilana
Complete The Wandering Merchant wish to open Jubilana’s shop near the First Shrine in Songclave. Her Simple Key price is reported as either 650 or 750 Rosaries: the Hollow Knight Wiki and GameSpot list 650, while Nintendo Life’s guide, published May 11, 2026, lists 750. Check the price shown in your game before budgeting for it.

Sands of Karak: search the eastern bench
A key rests on a corpse at the bench at the eastern tip of Sands of Karak. Guides describe different approaches: Nintendo Life says the route requires Clawline and Double Jump, while GameSpot describes a hidden exit above Pinstress reached with Clawline. Treat those as route descriptions rather than a definitive set of prerequisites.

Where to use the Simple Keys

Above Bone Bottom: open the Wormways entrance
Take the elevator above Bone Bottom toward the grassy area outside Mosshome. Cross the broken-elevator gap with Swift Step, then head west through the section with an acid-spitting enemy to reach the locked door. It opens a lower entrance to the Wormways and access to the region’s western side.

Deep Docks: unlock the lower docks south of Forge Daughter
The lock is in central, lower Deep Docks, south of Forge Daughter’s shop. One approach, described by Nintendo Life, is to rest at the shop bench, drop through the trap doors to the right, continue right, and jump across lava. The area contains exploration rewards, Rosaries, a tool, a Spool Fragment, and a boss, according to that guide.

You do not have to spend a key to reach the lower docks: the Hollow Knight Wiki describes another route from Far Fields, and Clawline allows access to explore the area. PC Gamer also notes that a later Act 3 quest visits this sub-area.

Sinner’s Road: free the Green Prince
The Green Prince is held in a cell in an early Sinner’s Road room. Nintendo Life notes that Drifter’s Cloak helps you cross the spikes on the way to him. Unlocking the cell frees him; his later story can connect to an optional Act 3 boss and Lost Verdania.

High Halls: open the Rosary Bank
Look west of Ventrica Station for the lock. Nintendo Life’s directions say to leave the station room, travel east, and climb to the platforms. The door opens the Rosary Bank, also described as a vault by PC Gamer. Its contents include Rosaries and the Rosary Cannon tool.
Which lock should you open first?
There is no universally best order: choose according to the route or reward you want now. The reported supply is four keys for four locks, so the choice is about timing and priority rather than a known shortage.

- For an early regional connection: open the Wormways entrance above Bone Bottom.
- For the bank’s contents: use a key on the High Halls Rosary Bank.
- For Deep Docks exploration: use a key there if you want its locked route; consider the Far Fields route instead if you would rather save the key for another lock.
Why some maps show more key markers
The count of four refers to distinct usable Simple Keys and four matching uses, as reported by the Hollow Knight Wiki and walkthroughs from Nintendo Life, PC Gamer, and GameSpot. LootMap’s August 2026 map lists eight Simple Key-related collectible markers and ten “Locked ways,” but clarifies that these are map-record totals—not counts of keys in your inventory or distinct Simple Key doors. Its map specifies release-1-30000; the other guides do not state a game build.
