There are four hidden Special Bots to rescue in Astro’s Playroom, one in each of its four worlds. This spoiler-forward guide shows where to find every capsule, how to solve each rescue puzzle, and which trophy each bot unlocks. The bots represent Bloodborne, Returnal, Gran Turismo and Ape Escape.

PlayStation’s July 8, 2024 announcement confirms that four hidden bots were added to Astro’s Playroom. The level-by-level solutions below are based on specialist walkthroughs.
GPU Jungle: Lady Maria in Renderforest
Reveal the capsule
- Enter Renderforest and move forward, climbing to higher ground. Look left for the bot dressed as a Bloodborne Hunter.
- Search the foliage behind the Hunter bot to reveal the trapped Special Bot capsule.
Free Lady Maria
- Climb to the platform with caterpillar enemies and defeat them.
- Hold Square to spin-attack the plant and grow leaf platforms. Cross the treetops to the farthest tree, where you’ll find a small clock on its back.
- Stand at the clock and press Options to open its special screen. Enter 24 November 2015, the release date of Bloodborne: The Old Hunters, to free Lady Maria and earn Hunted Down.
PlayStation explains the date clue and the connection to the Bloodborne DLC in its announcement.
SSD Speedway: Selene in Deep Dataspace
Reveal the capsule
- Progress to the first dynamite enemy and checkpoint.
- Stand on the raised outcropping behind the pink plant and look out into space to reveal Selene’s capsule.
Use the astronaut doll to complete the rescue
- Continue through the next area and open the chest to get the weapon.
- In the room with green enemies that fire projectiles, leave at least one shooter alive. You need a projectile for the puzzle.
- Reach the upper wall path and locate the small astronaut doll. Stand on it until the blue circle appears, then let an enemy projectile hit Astro. The hit returns Astro to the checkpoint and frees Selene, awarding Déjà Phew!

- On the left near the Kratos boat.
- Beside the central tree, next to a similarly colored shell.
- In the far-left corner beside the building wall.
The bot appears after you step on the fourth starfish. Each makes an audio cue when stepped on, which can help confirm that you found one.
Trace the race route
- Go to the far-right corner by the building and punch the blue shell to reveal a steering wheel.
- Stand in front of the wheel and press Options. An engine sound confirms that the route interface is active.
- Enter the directions in this exact order: Up, Left, Down, Down, Left, Down, Down, Right, Up, Right, Down, Right, Up, Up, Right, Up, Left, Left. A correct route frees the bot and awards Grand Tourist.
If the route does not register, reopen or restart the map and enter the sequence again.

Memory Meadow: the Ape Escape bot in Gusty Gateway
Reveal the capsule
- Build and cross the two controller-cable bridges. On the island beyond, look for the Ape Escape-costumed bot in a bush.
- Look over the edge for a blue aura in the clouds. Use the net canister when the lock-on indicator appears to reveal the Special Bot.
Collect bananas and copy the dance
- Continue to the moving cloud platforms and reach the raised pillar.
- Hit the tree on top until bananas fall, then pick them up. If you have not pulled the bridge cables yet, keep your hands free to do so before collecting the throwable item.
- Return to the platform in front of the capsule while carrying bananas to start the dance challenge.
- Copy the sequence shown in the game using the D-pad emotes. The displayed sequence is authoritative; it can vary. The emote mapping is Up = Floss, Right = Disco, Down = Jig and Left = Carlton.
Matching the dance frees the bot and awards No Escape! If this is your fourth rescue, you also earn Four the Players.

Rescuing all four Special Bots unlocks the Four the Players trophy. PlayStation says the rescued bots wait in the Mission Room and can join the initial crew in Astro Bot. Astro’s Playroom comes preinstalled on PS5, so you do not need to buy another game to find or rescue them.
