There is no single permanent “all weapons” total: third-party databases count and classify items differently, and the roster and balance can change with updates. Use the class guide below to understand the system, then check the live game or a current item index for specific weapons and stats.
Weapon categories and equip slots
The official Weapon & Gear Guide, published May 16, 2024, names eight broad categories:

- Handgun
- Shotgun
- Assault rifle
- Sniper rifle
- Light machine gun
- Crossbow
- Heavy artillery
- Melee weapon
A character can equip a main weapon, a sidearm, and a melee weapon. Those are equipment slots, not three separate weapon classes: the main weapon and sidearm may draw from ranged categories, while the melee slot is for close combat.
Lists may divide the roster more finely. For example, the Once Human Database includes submachine guns as a type. Treat “SMG” as a more specific label used by that index, rather than assuming every source follows the official guide’s category names.

How to get and craft weapons
The official guide describes a blueprint-based progression system. Blueprints and fragments come from exploring settlements, completing seasonal objectives, and using the Wish Machine. Fragments can be combined into blueprints; once you have a blueprint, you can craft the corresponding weapon at a Workbench.
- Unlock and place the Gear Workbench. The official guide says it is unlocked through the Memetic System and placed in your Territory.
- Gather the required materials. The crafting interface shows the materials needed for the equipment you select.
- Select an equipment tier and craft. The guide says higher-tier equipment provides better attributes. Check the live interface for the current options and requirements.
A March 2026 third-party crafting guide describes Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced Gear Workbench tiers. It also lists Pistol, SMG, Rifle, Shotgun, Sniper, and LMG ammunition, plus arrows for crossbows. These are details from that guide, not a current official specification; verify workbench and ammo details in-game because crafting systems can change.

How to compare weapons
A weapon’s listed damage alone does not establish how well it will perform for a particular character. Compare weapons using the fields available in the item index, then account for how the weapon fits your build and combat situation.

- Class and role: Start with the weapon type and the range or combat role you need.
- Damage and rate of fire: Read these together rather than treating either as a full performance ranking.
- Magazine size and ammunition: Capacity and ammo type help distinguish weapons with otherwise similar listed stats.
- Rarity and special effects: Check these alongside the weapon’s blueprint and upgrade path.
- Build synergy: Mods, attachments, calibration, and blueprint enhancement can affect how a weapon fits your character.
The Once Human Database weapon index provides filters for type and rarity and fields for damage, rate of fire, magazine size, and ammo type. Its guide to best weapons groups picks by type; it explicitly does not present them as a measured DPS ranking across every build. It also notes a September 2026 balance change for MG4 – Conflicting Memories, illustrating why patch context matters.

What roster totals do—and do not—tell you
Database totals are useful snapshots, not official permanent counts. When accessed in 2026, the Once Human Database displayed 159 weapons. That is the index’s count, not an official game-published total.
The Hidden Gaming Lair’s blueprint database displayed 279 weapon and armor blueprint entries, including 123 weapon blueprints, when accessed in 2026. Blueprint entries are not the same thing as weapon items, so these totals cannot be compared as if they measured the same roster.

A Game8 weapon guide last updated February 5, 2026, is another dated reference, but its publisher says it ended Once Human coverage in December 2025. Use it as a historical cross-check rather than a live source for current availability or balance.

How to use an “all weapons” list
For a practical reference, start with the weapon class you want, then compare its individual items by stats, ammunition, rarity, effect, blueprint access, and fit with your build. Confirm availability and exact values in-game or in a database updated for the current version. A roster list can help you find candidates; it cannot establish a universal best weapon without accounting for build, encounter, and patch.
