The developer said it did not need to file a counterclaim. The withdrawal restores the listing; it is not a court ruling or an independent determination that the game does or does not infringe copyright.
What happened to Allumeria?
Unomelon said Allumeria received a Microsoft DMCA takedown notice in late January 2026, alleging copyright infringement connected to Minecraft. Steam temporarily removed the game’s store page. In its February 16, 2026 announcement, the developer said Microsoft had formally withdrawn the claim and the Steam page was restored, allowing users to wishlist the game and interact with its community again.
GameSpot and PC Gamer reported the withdrawal and restoration on February 11, citing statements the developer had shared on Discord. The developer’s formal website announcement followed on February 16; these are different reporting and announcement dates, not evidence of two separate restorations. GameSpot and PC Gamer both attributed the news to the developer.
What did Microsoft allege?
According to reporting that reproduced language attributed to the notice, Microsoft alleged that Unomelon used Minecraft content—including gameplay and assets—without authorization. GameSpot reported that a Microsoft representative named Judith Woodward made the allegation on the company’s behalf. The underlying notice was not available for direct examination, and an allegation is not proof of infringement.

Unomelon said a screenshot showing visual similarities to Minecraft’s voxel style appeared to have prompted the claim. That is the developer’s explanation of the apparent trigger, not a confirmed account from Microsoft. The sources do not establish that the screenshot was the sole basis for the notice.
Was automated enforcement or Tracer.AI involved?
Unomelon’s announcement said the claim appeared to have been triggered by automated enforcement and described Tracer.AI involvement as reported, rather than confirmed. PC Gamer likewise described an automated claiming service as a possibility raised by the developer. PC Guide explicitly noted that Tracer AI’s involvement in this case was unconfirmed. The available reporting does not establish that Tracer.AI handled the claim or explain what system, if any, initiated it. PC Guide’s report addresses that uncertainty.

Did the developer file a counterclaim, or did a court decide the dispute?
No. Unomelon said it did not have to submit a counterclaim after Microsoft withdrew its claim. The sources report no court decision on whether Allumeria infringed copyright, and Microsoft’s reason for withdrawing has not been publicly established in the cited coverage. The withdrawal and restored Steam page resolve the immediate takedown, but do not amount to a legal finding or independently clear every game asset.

The developer reported that the Steam page was restored and that wishlisting and community interaction were available again. That confirms the reported return of the store listing, not the availability of a demo or a release date. Unomelon said after the withdrawal, “This is the best case scenario. We can now focus entirely on development and the upcoming release.”
