Amazon and Crystal Dynamics revealed two different Tomb Raider games in December 2025: Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a reimagining of Lara Croft’s 1996 debut, and Tomb Raider: Catalyst, a new adventure set in Northern India. The original announcement gave them 2026 and 2027 release windows, but those are no longer the best summary: Legacy of Atlantis is now officially dated for February 12, 2027, while a July 2026 report cited a possible 2028 window for Catalyst without a formal publisher update.
What are the two new Tomb Raider games?
The projects take different approaches: one revisits the series’ first game, while the other introduces a new story for Lara Croft. Amazon’s December 2025 announcement introduced both titles and named Alix Wilton Regan as Lara’s voice performer in each.

Both games are being made with Unreal Engine 5. The original announcement described Catalyst as having the largest world in Tomb Raider history; that is a promotional description, not an independently measured comparison. When does Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis come out?
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is officially scheduled to launch on February 12, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2. That replaces the 2026 window given when the games were first revealed. The date and platform details are on the official product and preorder page.

The official page lists Standard, Deluxe, and Collector’s Editions. It showed preorder options for PS5, Xbox, and Steam, with Switch 2 preorders to come later; availability can change, so check the live page or your preferred storefront for current status.
What’s in the Legacy of Atlantis editions?
- Standard Edition: game download and a Survivor Outfit preorder bonus.
- Deluxe Edition: 48-hour early launch access, a Parisian Fugitive Outfit, and a post-launch story pack.
- Collector’s Edition: Deluxe Edition contents, plus a premium steel case, Lara Croft vs. the T-Rex statue, mini art book, Croft Signet Pin, and Triumvirate Talisman Keychain.
The official site says physical editions will be available at select retailers. It does not establish that a particular retailer has stock or sells the Collector’s Edition in every region.

Is Tomb Raider: Catalyst still coming in 2027?
The 2027 window was the original announcement timing, not a confirmed current date. In July 2026, Gematsu reported that Amazon Games executive Jeffrey Gattis referred to the next Tomb Raider game following in 2028. The same report said Amazon Games had no update on release timing. Treat 2028 as a reported indication, not as a formally announced revised release date or confirmed delay. The report is available at Gematsu.

Crystal Dynamics Studio Creative Director Noah Hughes described Tomb Raider as being about “adventure-fueled experiences that entertain, inspire, and empower audiences” in the studio’s December 11, 2025 announcement. Scot Amos, Head of Studio at Crystal Dynamics, called the collaboration with Amazon Game Studios “truly transformative” in Amazon’s announcement. These are statements from the developers and publisher about their ambitions, rather than independent assessments of either game.
