Amazon Games announced the series on August 20, 2024, with a planned Prime Video launch on December 10, 2024. Why the anthology’s lineup feels so varied
Classic icons beside newer worlds
PAC-MAN and Mega Man carry decades of arcade and console history, while Exodus was a newer world for many viewers when the series arrived. That contrast lets the anthology move between familiar characters and settings audiences may be meeting for the first time.

Different kinds of play and storytelling
The selection reaches from action-focused settings and shooters to the online role-playing world of New World: Aeternum. Dungeons & Dragons and Warhammer 40,000 also broaden the frame beyond video games alone: both are tabletop properties with extensive fictional worlds. The result is not one shared genre or tone, but a collection designed to move between them.
How closely do the shorts connect to their games?
The format gives each episode room to use its source world in a different way. Some stories can lean on recognizable characters or lore; others can take a game idea and build a new narrative around it. The New World: Aeternum episode, for example, makes the online RPG’s cycle of dying and returning central to its premise.

In an October 14, 2024 interview, Secret Level creator and executive producer Tim Miller said one goal was to feature games “from as wide a spectrum of genres as possible.” New World narrative director Rob Chestney described that episode’s focus as “a story about second chances.” The two comments speak to different things: Miller was discussing the anthology’s range, while Chestney was describing the New World story. Amazon Games’ account of the episode also points to being overmatched, dying repeatedly, questing, collecting, leveling up, and crafting as elements drawn from the game’s experience. A separate Warhammer 40,000 animated series reportedly grew out of Secret Level’s episode “And They Shall Know No Fear.” In an August 5, 2026 report, Space.com said Amazon MGM Studios, Blur Studios, and Games Workshop were involved, Henry Cavill was an executive producer, and the story would focus on the Deathwatch. The report said no release date had been announced at publication. This is a separate project, not a second season of Secret Level.
What is confirmed about more episodes?
The cited official listing and production information establish a 15-episode first season. They do not establish a Season 2 renewal, a measured audience figure, or a physical release. Blur Studio calls the show Prime Video’s largest debut ever for a new animated series, but its project page does not provide an audience number or measurement to compare; treat that as the studio’s own claim, not an independently quantified rating.
